On the morning of October 20th, at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, presided over the welcoming ceremony for Major General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
During the talks, General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus has been continuously strengthened and nurtured over time.
The two countries upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership during General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Belarus in early May, with defense relations playing a crucial role as a pillar in the bilateral relationship.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that ASEAN is a key factor in shaping the regional structure through ASEAN-led mechanisms.
Vietnam supports and works with other members to strengthen ASEAN's central role, enhance internal solidarity and unity, narrow differences, and promote substantive cooperation with partners.

Regarding future directions for defense cooperation, General Nguyen Tan Cuong proposed that both sides continue to coordinate closely to effectively promote the following areas: maintaining exchanges of delegations, high-level contacts, and other contacts, and researching potential areas of cooperation such as military science and military medicine.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his belief that this visit by the delegation would contribute to further consolidating and strengthening bilateral defense cooperation in particular, and at the same time contribute to the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Belarus, for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace, stability and common development.
Major General Pavel Muraveiko affirmed that Vietnam and Belarus share many similarities, both having fought for independence and national liberation.

The First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus agreed with Vietnam's views on the global and regional situation, and the results of defense cooperation between the two countries in the past period.
He affirmed that the Republic of Belarus is ready to cooperate with countries that have friendly policies, working together for peace, stability, and development; and suggested that in the future, the two countries continue to promote cooperation in areas such as training and military sports competitions.
Major General Pavel Muraveiko thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense for accepting Belarusian military personnel to study Vietnamese, stating that this is an opportunity for Belarus to enhance its understanding of Vietnamese culture, country, and people, contributing to the promotion of relations between the two countries.
During the visit, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defence, received Major General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
During the meeting, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam-Belarus defense cooperation has been effectively implemented, in line with the overall traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, as well as international treaties and agreements that have been signed, achieving many positive results.
General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the Vietnamese people and the People's Army of Vietnam always cherish the valuable support and assistance that the people of the Republic of Belarus have given to Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and reunification.
To express gratitude for that assistance, the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense erected a monument commemorating the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and the Soviet Union (including Belarusian military experts) within the grounds of the Vietnam Military History Museum.
