Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Duong Cong Sang, Political Commissar of Military Region 9, reviewed the historical milestone of December 10, 1945. In response to the urgent requirements of the revolution and the implementation of the Party Central Committee's policy of resistance and national construction, the Southern Regional Party Committee decided to establish War Zone 8 and War Zone 9, the predecessors of today's Military Region 9. Since then, December 10 every year has become the glorious traditional day of the Military Region 9.

Over 80 years of fighting, building and growing, the Military Region 9 has always been united, resilient, overcome countless difficulties, achieved many outstanding feats; contributed significantly to the cause of national liberation in the past, as well as building and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland today.

With its outstanding achievements, the Military Region's Armed Forces have been awarded by the Party and the State with 3 Gold Star Orders, 5 Ho Chi Minh Orders and many other noble awards. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its tradition, Military Region 9 was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and the First Class Fatherland Protection Order.

The exhibition “80 years of heroic songs echoing forever” displays more than 300 images, documents, and precious artifacts, divided into 4 parts: Holding the Southern land, Being wholeheartedly with the revolution, maintaining the border, and complete faith. In addition, the exhibition also introduces a book commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Military Region's Armed Forces' Traditional Day, helping viewers better understand the process of formation, fighting, winning, and growing up of the force.

The documents on display vividly recreate the arduous but heroic struggle of the army and people of the Mekong Delta. This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to the past, foster pride, strengthen political will, and educate revolutionary ideals for cadres, soldiers and the younger generation. Thereby, encouraging the Military Region's armed forces to continue promoting the tradition of patriotism, upholding the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, and determination to successfully complete the task of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.

The exhibition is open from December 4 to 31 at the Military Region 9 Museum.
