Quang Ngai: 1,295 billion VND needed for resettlement for high-speed railway project

The North-South high-speed railway project in Quang Ngai is over 86 km long with a total capital of nearly VND11,400 billion, of which resettlement costs are about VND1,295 billion.

It is estimated that 1,295 billion VND is needed to resettle households in the North-South high-speed railway project area.

Director of Quang Ngai Department of Construction Nguyen Phuc Nhan said that the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis was approved by the National Assembly in principle for investment, with the goal of meeting transportation needs, creating an important driving force for rapid and sustainable socio -economic development.

The high-speed railway section on the North-South axis through Quang Ngai province is more than 86 km long, passing through 16 communes and 3 wards; starting point in Binh Minh commune and ending point in Khanh Cuong commune.

The land area within the project boundary is more than 562 hectares, mainly agricultural land.

The total investment for the component project is nearly VND 11,400 billion, of which resettlement costs are about VND 1,295 billion, with 3,213 resettlement lots.

After review, the project will reclaim 8.7 hectares of urban land and 87.7 hectares of rural land. It is expected to arrange 2,510 resettlement plots for 1,590 households that are required to relocate to make way for the project.

Localities in the project area have proposed to invest in building 22 new resettlement areas, with a total area of nearly 173 hectares. At the same time, it is expected to use 2,046 vacant lots in 33 resettlement areas and residential areas that have been built along the route to prioritize timely arrangement for the project.

Regarding the above project, Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Giang requested departments, branches and localities to closely coordinate in determining the route and implementation time of the items, ensuring consistency and suitability to reality.

Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van requested the Provincial People's Committee to urgently propose to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction to unify the adjustment of the station's location to suit actual conditions, ensure land fund and space for development of neighboring areas and update the feasibility study report of the project being implemented.

The Provincial Party Secretary requested that localities proactively provide full and timely information about the project and resettlement areas, and at the same time strengthen propaganda and mobilization so that people understand the meaning and importance of the national key project, thereby creating consensus and support in the process of project implementation.

In addition, departments, branches and localities coordinate to carefully calculate the material needs to ensure the project is served. At the same time, review compensation policies and propose special mechanisms to the Central Government to support the site clearance of key national projects through the area.
