According to a report by the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, the average annual growth rate of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for the period 2020-2025 is projected to reach 7.3%. By 2025, the province's GRDP is estimated to reach 92,813 billion VND, with an economic scale of nearly 189,000 billion VND. This represents a significant growth rate in the overall context, placing Quang Ngai 23rd out of 34 provinces and cities in the province.

The economic structure continues to shift in the right direction, with industry, construction, and services accounting for 70.3% of GRDP. GRDP per capita is estimated to reach US$3,979 in 2025, equivalent to VND 54.89 million per person. Notably, in the first six months of 2025, Quang Ngai province's GRDP growth rate reached 11.51%, ranking first nationwide.

In the economic sectors, industry continues to play a pivotal role, making a significant contribution to economic growth. The value of industrial production in 2025 is estimated at VND 185,401 billion, an increase of over 10% per year. Key industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, electricity, food processing, and pharmaceuticals are increasingly demonstrating efficiency and competitive advantages. Most notably, the Dung Quat Economic Zone is experiencing strong growth – a center for petrochemicals, metallurgy, energy, and heavy industry in Central Vietnam.

The Dung Quat Economic Zone has truly become the province's "industrial growth pole," attracting numerous large corporations to invest, forming a comprehensive and widespread industrial ecosystem; a series of strategic projects have been launched and implemented here, such as: upgrading and expanding the Dung Quat Oil Refinery; the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 Iron and Steel Production Complex; the Dung Quat I, II, and III combined-cycle gas turbine power plant complex; and the VSIP II industrial-urban zone.

Investment attraction activities have seen many positive developments. During the 2020-2025 period, Quang Ngai granted licenses to 188 new domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of over 121,000 billion VND and 23 FDI projects with a total investment of approximately 770 million USD. Total social investment reached 347,471 billion VND, creating important resources for the development of technical infrastructure, industry, urban areas, and rural areas.

The tourism industry is gradually recovering and making breakthroughs after the pandemic, with 4.9 million visitors in 2025 and estimated total revenue of 2,640 billion VND. The province has focused on building tourism clusters such as Ly Son – Sa Huynh – Mang Den, promoting marine, island, ecological, cultural, and community tourism. This is considered an important foundation for making tourism a key economic sector in the coming period.

Social welfare has received close attention. Over the past five years, Quang Ngai has supported the construction and repair of more than 9,000 temporary and dilapidated houses with a total budget of over 500 billion VND. The poverty rate has decreased by an average of 2.17% per year, and in mountainous areas it has decreased by 4.64% per year. The rate of people participating in health insurance has reached 95.17%, and the rate of rural people using clean water has reached 98.3%.

Regarding infrastructure development, Quang Ngai has implemented many key projects such as the North-South Expressway (Eastern section) passing through the province, the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road, rural roads, clean water supply systems, resettlement areas, and essential infrastructure serving production. The province has also attracted many renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power, with a total registered capacity of over 1,191 MW.

For the period 2025-2030, Quang Ngai province aims for rapid and sustainable development based on innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation. The province will continue to attract high-value-added, high-tech, environmentally friendly industrial projects; focusing on developing new sectors such as renewable energy, biotechnology, high-tech pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, and the green economy.

Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van emphasized that, entering the 2025-2030 period, Quang Ngai province will make breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; develop rapidly and sustainably; and strive to become a moderately developed province by 2030.

Building on the solid foundation of achievements made during the 2020-2025 period, coupled with a desire for innovation, a spirit of solidarity, creativity, and strong determination, Quang Ngai is embarking on a new, comprehensive, sustainable, and inclusive development path – aiming to become an important growth hub for the Central region and the entire country.
