Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1737/QD-TTg approving the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The goal is that by 2030, Quang Tri will achieve a level of development among the relatively advanced provinces nationwide, with a basic economic structure of an industrial and service province; becoming one of the comprehensive economic centers of the North Central and Central Coastal regions, a logistics and goods transshipment center for Southeast Asia and transportation corridors in the ASEAN and Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). The people's living standards will be improved and enhanced.

Quang Tri strives for an average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 8.2% per year in the 2021 - 2030 period.
Economic structure: Agriculture accounts for about 10.5%; non-agriculture accounts for about 84.5%; Product tax minus product subsidies accounts for about 5.0%; GRDP per capita reaches about 140 - 170 million VND/person;
By 2050, Quang Tri will become a province with a strong economy with the main structure being industry and services and will be one of the driving forces for development in the North Central and Central Coast regions; national defense and security will be ensured, and people will have a happy life.
Quang Tri will develop key, priority, and pillar industries and sectors, including building Quang Tri into a clean energy center of Central Vietnam; tourism as a leading economic sector. It will also build high-quality and efficient logistics infrastructure; develop processing and manufacturing industries applying advanced and high technologies; and develop commercial agriculture applying high and advanced technologies, as well as ecological and organic agriculture.
Quang Tri province focuses on environmental protection, ecological restoration, and biodiversity conservation, while simultaneously exploiting and promoting unique ecological values; promoting inclusive development, creating opportunities for all segments of the population to participate in and benefit from development achievements, achieving social progress and equity, poverty reduction, and social security.
