The National Assembly passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property.

On the afternoon of December 10th, under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the direction of National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, the National Assembly voted to pass the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property with 432 out of 438 National Assembly deputies present voting in favor, reaching 98.63%.

This law encourages and promotes innovation, exploitation, and development of intellectual property rights through financial support, tax incentives, credit, and other investment support and incentives in accordance with the law, aiming to enhance national competitiveness, contribute to socio-economic development, and improve the material and spiritual lives of the people.

Simultaneously, support should be provided for the creation, protection, exploitation, management, and development of intellectual property rights, especially those of ethnic minorities; support should be given to Vietnamese organizations and individuals to determine the value of intellectual property rights, apply models for transferring and assigning the right to use intellectual property rights, and contribute capital in the form of intellectual property rights; and mechanisms for cooperation and sharing of intellectual property rights should be promoted between the State, scientists , science and technology organizations, and businesses.

The law will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
