Launching the "Self-reliant Women" model in Dong Dang commune

- On the afternoon of October 28, in Dong Dang commune, the Provincial Women's Union (VWU) launched the "Self-reliant Women" model and trained and disseminated health care skills for women with disabilities by 2025.

Leaders of the Women's Union of Dong Dang commune presented the decision to establish the "Self-reliant Women" model to the Executive Board.

The “Self-reliant Women” model in Dong Dang commune is the first model to be launched in 2025 in the province, including 30 members who are members of the Women's Union branches in Dong Dang commune, of which 10 members are people with disabilities. Participating in the model, members can exchange, learn, share experiences and support each other in life; be provided with information, propaganda, training, and advice on issues related to women with disabilities, gender equality, health care and support policies of the State.

The model was built to gather and connect members who are women with disabilities and their relatives; improve skills and awareness of rights and gender equality; contribute to helping women with disabilities become confident and proactive in integrating into the community.

Leaders of the Women's Working Committee (Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province), leaders of Dong Dang commune and representatives of the Women's Union of the commune presented financial support to members with disabilities.

At the model launch, members of the model who are disabled were supported by the Provincial Women's Union with funds to buy essential household items (support level of 700,000 VND/member).

Reporter to promote knowledge on gender equality and rights of people with disabilities

Immediately after the program launch, the reporter of the Women's Affairs Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province propagated and trained to raise awareness, skills in health care and mental health for women with disabilities; knowledge about gender equality, rights of people with disabilities; skills in self-care, social integration; skills in mobilizing and supporting women with disabilities to participate in association activities and self-reliance models in the commune for more than 50 people including members of the "Self-reliant Women" model and members of branches of the Women's Union of Dong Dang commune.

It is known that from now until the end of October 2025, the Provincial Women's Union will launch two more "Self-reliant Women" models in That Khe and Chi Lang communes.
