Launching community tourism cooperative group in Cam Thanh commune

This activity aims to implement the contents of the project "Developing sustainable community livelihood models combined with ecotourism to promote socio -economic development, contributing to the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve" (VNM/UNDP/2022/05 project) on building a community-based learning tourism model in Cam Thanh commune.

The project is funded by the Global Environment Fund through the Small Projects Grant Program in Vietnam. The Women's Union of Hoi An City is the lead implementing agency in Cam Kim and Cam Thanh communes.

The Go Hy Community Tourism and Fisheries Resource Conservation Cooperative (Thanh Tam village, Cam Thanh commune) has 36 members. The cooperative's management board consists of 7 members, with Mr. Tran Ro as the head.

Members of the cooperative work together to protect the rural landscape, conserve aquatic resources, promote the value of bamboo and coconut house building in Cam Thanh; preserve and promote cultural and historical values, especially the stories of revolutionary history in the Cam Thanh coconut forest, thereby creating new, sustainable tourism products.

Members of the cooperative also connect and support each other, creating favorable conditions for each other to develop their respective industries, ensuring economic stability on a voluntary, equal, and mutually beneficial basis.

On this occasion, the VNM/UNDP/2022/05 project provided equipment including bamboo tables and chairs, life jackets, and uniforms worth 40 million VND to help the cooperative implement a community-based educational tourism model.
