An artificial intelligence (AI) system integrated on the VedaX AI Platform, using ZeroChat and ZeroPhone technology, has been deployed by the Organizing Committee of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025.

Speaking to a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Mr. Dinh Hoang Kien, founder of VedaX Company - the unit deploying the AI platform to serve the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival, said that the system is integrated on the VedaX AI Platform, using ZeroChat and ZeroPhone technology, providing a multi-channel experience - including chatbots, reception robots and automatic kiosks.

The highlight of the ceremony is the appearance of 6 smart reception robots arranged in the central reception areas. By simply pressing the “Start call” button, users can chat with the robot to get information about the ceremony schedule, activities to worship the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni and the Heart Relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc, academic seminars, cultural and artistic programs, parking lot locations, restroom areas, etc.

AI robot "operator" can speak 6 popular languages in countries with large Buddhist populations

The robots are designed to converse in six popular languages in countries with large Buddhist populations: Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Indian, Thai and Sri Lanka. Each robot acts as a switchboard operator, able to listen and respond in real time in crowded environments, handling communication situations flexibly and accurately.

With AI chatbot, users can quickly look up information via QR codes placed at the ceremony area, on the official Fanpage and website of the ceremony or from published links.

This chatbot is developed with the ability to converse in 99 languages, serving users from all over the world . In particular, the VedaX AI "volunteer" can customize the level of response according to the questioner's level, for example, for those who are new to Buddhism, the system will give a simple explanation while for those with good background knowledge, the AI will respond more deeply and coherently.

"We do not let AI answer randomly. All answers must not deviate from the doctrine but must be easy enough for the listener to fully grasp," Mr. Kien affirmed.

Scan QR code, ask questions to get information about United Nations Vesak 2025

According to Mr. Kien, the knowledge of this AI system was built and developed under the guidance of Venerable Thich Nhat Tu, Permanent Deputy Secretary General of the National Organizing Committee of the United Nations Vesak 2025, with the support of monks, to ensure that AI is not "disturbed" by false information sources.

"Operating an AI system in a crowded environment will inevitably lead to situations where users intentionally ask "tricky" questions or interrupt when the robot is responding. Therefore, we design adjustment mechanisms suitable for each environment, ensuring a seamless experience and accurate information," Mr. Kien informed.

Reception robots are placed at 5 locations in the Vietnam Buddhist Academy II Campus in Ho Chi Minh City (Le Minh Xuan Commune, Binh Chanh District), including: Minh Chau Lecture Hall, Press Center serving the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival, Art Exhibition Area, Tea Meditation Area and Tri Quang Library Area; and 1 location at the Exhibition Area in Lang Le Cultural Park (Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).
