In Cambodia , Luan Nam, 72, the owner of a crocodile farm in Siem Reap province, was attacked and killed by a pack of crocodiles after falling into their enclosure.
"When he used a stick to chase a crocodile out of its nesting cage, the animal grabbed the stick and caused him to fall into the cage," Mey Savry, police chief of Siem Reap commune, in Cambodia's province of the same name, said about the incident that killed Luan Nam on May 26.

"The crocodiles surrounded him and attacked him to death," Savry said, adding that Mr. Nam's body was covered in bite marks. There were about 40 crocodiles in the enclosure at the time.
According to the police, Mr. Nam is also the chairman of the local Crocodile Breeding Association. His family had repeatedly urged him to stop breeding these dangerous animals, but to no avail.
Savry said that in 2019, a two-year-old girl was attacked by a crocodile after wandering into her family's farm, in the same village as Mr. Nam. In Siem Reap, there are still some crocodile farms that raise crocodiles for eggs, skin, and meat, as well as for breeding stock.
