The Egyptian star expressed his dissatisfaction that Liverpool's commitments to him had not been fulfilled, despite having recently signed a new contract worth up to £400,000 per week. When asked about the possibility of playing in Saudi Arabia as early as January 2026, Salah refused to comment, saying, "I don't want to talk about that because the club would interpret it differently."
Shortly afterwards, at the World Football Summit held in Saudi Arabia, the CEO of the Saudi Pro League, Omar Mugharbel, confirmed that Salah was a target for several major clubs. According to the Telegraph , clubs such as Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, and Al Qadsiah were all ready to spend heavily to acquire the 32-year-old superstar.
In September 2023, Al Ittihad submitted a £150 million offer for Salah, which was rejected by Liverpool. Sources indicate that the deal could still happen, even for a transfer fee "higher than the £150 million" that Liverpool initially refused.
The Saudi Pro League is renowned for its ability to spend heavily to attract top stars, and Salah is seen as the next star who could become a new icon of the league.

However, to move to Saudi Arabia, Salah needs to comply with strict regulations in the league. According to the New York Times , any transfer involving a salary of £2.4 million per year or more must be approved by the league organizers.
Notably, the league has implemented a strict rule regarding negotiations: if any player or agent is found to be using one club as "bait" to demand a higher salary from another team, they will be "immediately banned" from the Saudi Pro League transfer market.
Given that teams owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) often pursue the same player, this rule aims to prevent the parties from exploiting the competition to drive up prices. This means that if Salah's agent attempts to create a "fake bidding war" between Saudi clubs, the Liverpool star could lose the opportunity to move to the league altogether.
