Ready for the Ooc Om Boc Festival and Ngo Boat Race in Soc Trang 2024

This is a large-scale cultural, sports and tourism event, promising to bring unique experiences to domestic and foreign tourists.

At the meeting on August 20, Mr. Tran Minh Ly, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province, said the theme of this year's event is "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups, integration and development".

The event will take place at many key locations in the city such as Bach Dang Square, Maspéro River and the Freshwater Lake Cultural Area, with a total cost of more than 17 billion VND, mostly from socialized sources.

The highlight of this year's Ooc Om Boc Festival is the Ngo boat race, expected to attract 55 to 60 male and female Ngo boat teams to participate.

In addition, the festival also includes the Moon Worship Ceremony, the Loi Protip Water Lantern Festival, and the Ca Hau Boat Performance. These activities not only honor the unique culture of the Khmer people but also bring a vibrant and attractive festival atmosphere.

In parallel, the Soc Trang Culture, Sports and Tourism Week will also bring a series of diverse events such as the OCOP Product Trade Promotion Fair, the 1st Mekong Food Festival, and light art performances. In particular, the event will set a Vietnam Guinness Record with the largest pentatonic music performance ever.

Ngo boat racing is a highlight activity at the Ooc Om Boc Festival.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, has directed relevant departments and agencies to complete preparations, ensuring the event is successful and leaves a deep impression on visitors. This event is not only an occasion to honor traditional culture but also an opportunity to promote tourism and promote the image of Soc Trang to international friends.
