On the evening of December 3, at the Hanoi Opera House, the 10th National Foreign Information Awards Ceremony took place. The work Vietnamese Bookcase (for Vietnamese people abroad) by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Vietnam Education Publishing House ( Ministry of Education and Training ) won the Second Prize - Category of Innovative products with foreign information value.

In response to the Government's "Vietnamese Language Honor Day" project and to strongly spread the love of Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SVC) and the Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEP) have built a Vietnamese Bookshelf for overseas Vietnamese.

Through the bookshelf, generations of Vietnamese people living abroad can easily access national culture, strengthen their love for their homeland and country; promote cultural exchange activities, strengthen connections between Vietnamese people in the country and the overseas Vietnamese community. Building a bookshelf with books in Vietnamese language, with content about nature, culture and people of Vietnam, etc. will contribute to creating a good environment for Vietnamese children in particular and overseas Vietnamese in general to practice and improve their mother tongue.

The donated Vietnamese Bookcases are a combination of many genres of books and documents to meet the diverse needs of overseas Vietnamese.

Since 2023, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House has planned to build Vietnamese Bookcases for the Vietnamese community in many countries and territories and is on the way to realizing these bookcases. Vietnamese Bookcases have been present in many countries and spread across many areas where Vietnamese people live in the world. Up to now, the Vietnamese Bookcases have been introduced to overseas Vietnamese in the following locations: Fukuoka (Japan - August 2023), Budapest (Hungary - October 2023); Taiwan (China - July 2024); Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic) (July 2024). Many other bookcases are in the process of being implemented.

The Vietnamese Bookshelf has received the attention and support of local authorities in expanding the scale and number of bookshelf. Many countries have also had policies to create favorable conditions for a friendly cultural and reading environment for the Vietnamese community, especially the young generation, which is also a bridge to promote the connection between Vietnam and other countries in the world.

Preserving and spreading national culture, love for the mother tongue, and increasing the solidarity of Vietnamese people around the world are the messages that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Education Publishing House want to convey through the initiative of the Vietnamese Bookcase for Overseas Vietnamese./.
