Breeding cows - the first step to sustainable livelihoods
Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, in recent times, Ia Phi commune has deployed many practical support models, helping people stabilize their lives and develop the economy . In particular, the program of providing 182 breeding cows and fertilizers to 40 households is considered a highlight, bringing about clear results.
From the first breeding cows, people proactively built barns, learned care techniques, disease prevention and herd expansion. Thanks to that, many households have had a stable source of income, gradually rising out of poverty.
Along with that, fertilizer support helps improve crop productivity, make good use of production land, and increase agricultural labor efficiency.

The family of Ms. Ro Cham Quai (Khe village, Ia Phi commune) is one of the typical households. At the end of 2024, she was supported with a breeding cow. Thanks to proper care, the cow grew healthy and prepared to give birth for the first time.
“I raised it well, it grew bigger and fatter day by day. I used cow dung to fertilize the coffee garden, the plants grew well, saving money on fertilizer,” Quai said excitedly.
Not only supporting individual households, the breeding cow group of Yang 3 and Or villages was also established with 21 participating households, most of whom are poor and near-poor households. The project supported 19 breeding cows, combined with training courses on breeding techniques, disease prevention and proper barn construction.
Mr. Ro Cham Yung, representative of the community group, shared: “At first, people were confused, but after being carefully instructed, everyone felt secure. The herd of cows in the group is expected to triple, from 19 to 57. This model not only helps people have a stable income but also increases solidarity, helping each other to do business.”
According to Mr. Thai Van Chung - Head of the Economic Department of Ia Phi Commune, the program of providing breeding cows has created a positive effect. From the supported cows, many households have successfully bred them, gained more assets, and had the motivation to rise up. In the coming time, the commune hopes to continue to receive support from resources to replicate the model, helping people escape poverty sustainably.
From the first breeding cows, Ia Phi people have learned how to do business in a more planned, technical and sustainable way - an important first step on the journey to develop green agriculture in the locality.
From green livelihoods to organic farming
Following the success of the livelihood support program, Ia Phi commune continues to encourage people to switch to organic agricultural production, aiming for long-term, environmentally friendly development and meeting the increasing demands of the export market.

At the end of September 2025, the Commune People's Committee organized a conference to propagate and guide organic agricultural production, helping people understand the natural farming process, soil improvement, and the use of microbial fertilizers and biological products instead of chemicals.
Previously, many households were still worried about reduced productivity, but after being instructed, people changed their perception and began testing new models.
Mr. Hoang Viet Thang (Ia Sik village, Ia Phi commune) shared: "Now I understand how to do organic work more systematically, know how to use compost, and prevent diseases with biological methods. Doing organic work not only protects health but also helps the soil to be good for a long time."
According to Mr. Phan Huu Duong - Owner of Xuan Duong Coffee, the trend of organic production is increasingly popular in the market. "Consumers now demand clean products, without chemical residues. Organic production not only helps plants stay healthy but also increases value, opening up export opportunities" - Mr. Duong said.

In the commune, the Ia Phi Organic Agriculture Cooperative, directed by Mr. Bui Van Duong, is a pioneer in developing green agriculture. Cooperative members are committed to reducing chemical fertilizers and pesticides, switching to manure, biofertilizers and biological products. “The goal of the Cooperative is to help people change their production methods, improve the quality of agricultural products and protect the living environment,” Mr. Duong shared.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Son - Chairman of Ia Phi Commune People's Committee, coffee is the main crop of the commune with an area of over 2,800 hectares. In the context of increasingly strict export requirements on safety standards, switching to organic production is an inevitable trend.
“We will continue to provide technical guidance and support biological products so that people can cultivate safely, meet market demands and increase the value of raw material areas,” Mr. Son affirmed.
From the herd of cows that help stabilize livelihoods to the organic coffee garden that is gradually taking shape, Ia Phi commune is on the right track in its goal of “green poverty reduction”, combining economic development and environmental protection. These small but practical models are contributing to changing the face of the countryside, helping people confidently rise up to take control of their lives, towards a more prosperous and sustainable future.
