SJC sells gold 'freely' on Singles' Day, customers can buy as much as they want

Today, November 11th, Singles' Day, gold prices continued to fall by 500,000 VND per tael for selling and 200,000 VND per tael for buying. The listed price of gold bars at SJC at the end of the afternoon on November 11th was 81.9 million VND per tael for selling and 85.4 million VND per tael for buying. This price decreased by 100,000 VND compared to the opening price and by 400,000 VND per tael compared to yesterday. The buy-sell spread continued to widen to 3.5 million VND.

Gold rings at this largest gold, silver, and gemstone trading business are also listed with a decrease of approximately 500,000 VND/ounce compared to the previous day and a decrease of 200,000 VND/ounce compared to the beginning of the morning. The buying price for SJC 99.99 gold rings (1-5 taels) is currently 81.8 million VND/ounce, and the selling price is 84.3 million VND/ounce.

The sharpest drop was at Mi Hong, where the selling price fell by 800,000 VND/ounce and the buying price by 1 million VND/ounce; the buying and selling price was now 82.3-85 million VND/ounce.

In the morning, this business listed the buying price of SJC gold bars at 82.8 million VND and the selling price at 85.4 million VND per ounce. The buying price of gold rings here was also only 82 million VND per ounce and the selling price was 84 million VND per ounce, a decrease of 500,000 VND per ounce compared to the beginning of the day.

Most notably, buyers of gold bars at SJC no longer have to struggle with online registration and waiting in line for limited quantities.

The SJC gold and jewelry center on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (District 3 - the largest sales point of this business) is selling gold at unlimited rates to customers. Customers buying gold bars only need to press a number, wait for their turn, and state the quantity of gold bars they want to buy, and the staff will quickly complete the transaction procedures as before June 2024.

Regarding gold rings, this business allows each customer to buy a maximum of 5 taels per transaction. A few days ago, each customer was allowed to buy a maximum of 10 taels per transaction.

In fact, since last Friday, some customers at this SJC gold selling point have been able to buy gold bars freely without having to go through the procedures they had been doing for the past four months.

However, at small businesses and gold shops in An Dong market, customers buying gold rings still cannot meet their demand. Each customer is only allowed to buy 1 chỉ (unit of weight), and staff refuse to sell if customers request to buy 2 chỉ or more.

Gold prices have fallen sharply from their peak at the end of October and have continued to decline over the past few days, prompting those with demand to buy more. Gold shops confirm that buying volume has balanced with selling volume, and there is no longer a rush to sell as seen over the past weekend.
