On September 5, the Department of Health of Bac Ninh province reported to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Bac Ninh province on disciplinary action against a number of officials and employees of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1.
Based on the recommendation of the hospital's disciplinary council and disciplinary records, the director of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 has decided to dismiss Mr. Vu Van Giap (41 years old) - a contract driver in the administrative department and Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (34 years old) - a nurse, a contract employee in the intensive care and anti-poison department.
At the same time, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thiu (30 years old), nurse, officer of the intensive care and anti-poison department, was disciplined with a warning.
Previously, the three individuals were temporarily suspended to verify citizens' complaints about an ambulance transporting a patient from Bac Ninh to Thai Nguyen (about 200km), then collecting 21 million VND.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , at the end of August 2025 on social networks, Ms. AT (residing in Hiep Luc, Thai Nguyen province) said that on August 15, her father, Mr. VT (freelance worker), suddenly fell ill, fell into critical condition and was taken to Bac Giang General Hospital (now Bac Ninh General Hospital 1).
After 4 days of treatment at the hospital, Mr. T's health did not improve, so his family made a commitment to take him home and asked the hospital and the department's doctors to send an ambulance to take him home.
At noon on August 19, the ambulance carrying Ms. T.'s father departed from Bac Ninh to Thai Nguyen, a distance of about 200km. Upon arrival, the driver collected a total trip fee of 21 million VND, of which 4 million was for the accompanying doctor.
When the article was posted on social media, many people expressed their indignation and thought the amount was unreasonable. Afterwards, Ms. T. herself posted information that the ambulance driver had proactively contacted the family and returned 16 million VND.
After the incident, the leadership of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 sent staff to work directly with the patient's family, held meetings with relevant departments and divisions, and asked individuals to report.
