According to a leader of the Department of Health of Bac Ninh province, Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 has just made an initial report on the complaint related to an ambulance driver charging 21 million VND for a distance of 200km.
The Department of Health requested the director of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 to urgently inspect and verify citizens' feedback and strictly handle violations (if any) of related organizations and individuals according to current regulations.
The hospital is responsible for reporting and sending it to the department no later than August 28.
Currently, Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 has decided to temporarily suspend 3 people from work, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Thiu - an official of the intensive care - anti-poison department (head nurse on duty), Mr. Vu Van Giap - administrative management department (patient transport driver) and Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - intensive care - anti-poison department (patient escort nurse).
Three individuals were temporarily suspended to serve the verification of citizens' reflections about the ambulance transporting patients from Bac Ninh to Thai Nguyen (about 200km), then collecting 21 million VND.
The leaders of Bac Ninh General Hospital No. 1 also sent staff to work directly with the patient's family, organized meetings with relevant departments and divisions, and asked individuals to report.

Previously on social media, Ms. AT (residing in Hiep Luc, Thai Nguyen province) said that on August 15, her father, Mr. VT (freelance worker), suddenly fell ill, fell into critical condition and was taken to Bac Giang General Hospital (now Bac Ninh General Hospital 1).
After 4 days of treatment at the hospital, Mr. T's health did not improve, so his family made a commitment to take him home and asked the hospital and the department's doctors to send an ambulance to take him home.
"When the driver brought us home, it was someone. The family didn't have time to ask his name, they just asked how much it cost to go from Bac Giang to home. The driver asked how many kilometers it was, and the family said it was about 180-200km. The driver said to calculate by the kilometer, there's no need to be afraid of taking more," the post stated.
At noon on August 19, the ambulance carrying Ms. T's father departed from Bac Ninh to Thai Nguyen, a distance of about 200km. When arriving, the driver collected the total cost of the trip of 21 million VND, of which 4 million was for the accompanying doctor.
After sharing the article on social media, many people expressed their indignation and thought the amount was unreasonable. Afterwards, Ms. T. herself posted information that the ambulance driver had proactively contacted the family and refunded 16 million VND.
