Seven days after the attack on two commune offices in Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province, which resulted in the deaths of four police officers and two commune officials, two police officers injured, and three civilians, a VietNamNet reporter visited Cu Pong commune, Krong Buk district – where many of the perpetrators were involved – to gather more information.
At the home of Y Kuik Ajun (27 years old) in Ea Liăng village, when meeting reporters, H B'ruinh Kbuor (26 years old, Y Kuik Ajun's wife) burst into tears as she recounted the incident.
Ms. H'ruinh Kbuor said that before leaving home, her husband only said he was going to work in Dong Nai , but when they saw his picture posted online, she found out that her husband was part of the group that attacked the commune headquarters.
"A few days after the incident, my husband called and said he was in the Ea Tul church area, Cu M'gar district, and asked me to come pick him up. My family and I reported to the commune police and the police sent a car to take me to pick my husband up. On the way home, my husband said he was forced to go with them and that he couldn't go home because they threatened to shoot the whole family," Ms. H B'ruinh Kbuor said in tears.
According to Ms. H B'ruinh Kbuor, besides her husband, two of her brothers-in-law also participated in the group that attacked the commune headquarters. Before the incident, her husband showed no suspicious behavior. If she had known he was involved with this group, she would never have allowed him to participate because it is against the law.
At the home of suspect Y Pheo Niê (31 years old), when we arrived, we saw a large group of women sitting in front of the door, most of whom had husbands involved in the aforementioned incident.
Receiving us, Ms. H Ngui Ajun (30 years old, Y Pheo's wife) said that her husband returned after 5 days of being gone, then asked his brother to take him to the commune to confess. Ms. H Ngui Ajun said, "Before leaving, my husband said he was going fishing and did not say anything more to his wife and children."
My husband told me that after realizing he had been tricked, he intended to run away, but they pointed a gun at his head and threatened, "If you leave, we'll shoot your whole family," so he had to go with them.
"After the incident, my husband escaped and returned home. On the way home, he was so hungry that he had to dig for turmeric to eat and sleep in a trash can. When he got home, he did not dare to go in right away but stood from afar to observe. Only at 2 a.m. did he dare to go in because they threatened to kill the whole family when they returned," Ms. H Ngui Ajun recounted.
Ms. H Ngui Ajun also added that if she had known her husband was following this group of people, she would never have agreed because it was an illegal act, causing suffering to the wife, children, and the whole family.
Regarding the attack on the commune headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tran Tuan - Head of Krong Buk District Police, said that in the district there were many people involved in the incident, but only a few key members, the majority were lured.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tran Tuan, in addition to coordinating with functional forces to arrest, the unit also determined that propaganda and mobilization work is very important, so it wrote letters calling on the subjects to surrender to enjoy leniency policies.
Regarding the investigation progress, by the afternoon of June 17th, the police had decided to temporarily detain all 62 individuals involved in the attack on the commune headquarters in Dak Lak.
The police and relevant authorities are continuing to pursue the individuals involved in order to investigate and clarify the case.
