As a hamlet recognized as a model new rural residential area in August 2023, Hamlet 1 currently has a fairly complete system of cultural and sports facilities. Every afternoon, at the hamlet's cultural center, a large number of residents and students come to practice sports. Some run, others play volleyball using the training equipment, while children play football and shuttlecock... creating a cheerful and lively recreational atmosphere.
Mr. Pham Quang Diec, Party Secretary and Head of the Front Committee of the hamlet, said: Hamlet 1 has 250 households with 820 residents. The people mainly participate in agricultural production and small-scale handicrafts, and their economic lives are still difficult. However, the mobilization of resources to build and improve the criteria of the model new rural residential area has always been supported and actively participated in by the people.
The total investment in building the model new rural area in Hamlet 1 was over 850 million VND, with the majority contributed by the people. At the hamlet's cultural center, electricity, internet, bookshelves, and other equipment have been installed to serve the cultural needs of the residents. Along the village roads, not only have they been upgraded and beautified, but they have also been decorated with flower pots and painted walls.
In addition, the villagers adhere to civilized customs in weddings, funerals, and festivals, in accordance with the regulations of the State and the local authorities.
Hamlet 1 has the Xuan Thanh village communal house, which was recognized as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic in 2011. Every year, a village festival is held here on the 15th day of the 2nd lunar month with rich ceremonial and festive activities, ensuring that no exploitation of the festival for profit or superstition occurs. The village festival here has become a typical cultural feature of Tan Thanh commune...
Comrade Tran Van Nghiep, Vice Chairman of the Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee, said: After being recognized as a New Rural Area in 2015, Tan Thanh commune was again selected by the province and district to build an advanced New Rural Area. Accordingly, the commune focused on completing and improving the quality of the criteria already achieved in the direction of an advanced New Rural Area and completed it by the end of 2023.
Regarding the three requirements of the cultural criteria, the commune has focused on mobilizing resources to gradually improve basic cultural and sports facilities in order to promote the development of cultural, artistic, and sports movements in the locality.
The commune's multi-purpose cultural center and the cultural centers in all 8 hamlets are spacious and fully equipped, meeting the needs of the commune and its residents for meetings and activities. The commune's sports complex ensures facilities for sports activities, including a mini football field, volleyball court, badminton court, and athletics track.
Tan Thanh commune has installed 10 sets of outdoor sports and fitness equipment to serve the cultural, sports, and recreational needs of the people, with a focus on serving children and the elderly at the commune's cultural and sports center.
In 100% of the hamlets, there are simple sports fields connected to the community center's yard, including volleyball and badminton courts, with 5-7 pieces of simple sports equipment. Of these, 8 hamlets have planned separate sports fields. The sports fields in all hamlets adequately meet the needs of the people for physical training and sports activities, and basically meet the standards for village community centers and sports areas as stipulated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism .
With well-invested and modern infrastructure, the local people's cultural, artistic, and sports activities have flourished. Community art clubs, health and wellness clubs, badminton and women's volleyball clubs, and community learning center activities are regularly maintained.
Currently, the hamlets have established 10 clubs, teams, and groups of people who love culture and arts, with over 200 members participating. Every year, the commune organizes many sports exchange and competition events on major holidays, attracting 33% of the local population to participate in regular sports training.
In building a cultural life, the commune focuses on promoting the "All people unite to build a cultural life" movement with practical and specific contents, which are actively supported by the people. The number of families achieving the title of "Cultural Family" increases annually; in 2023, the number of cultural families reached 96%, and the percentage of families achieving the title for three consecutive years reached over 80%; the number of hamlets achieving the title of "Cultural Hamlet" in 2023 reached 100%.
In addition, the commune's activities in building a cultured lifestyle and preserving national culture attract widespread participation from the people. The commune has two historical and cultural relics that have been classified as provincial-level historical and cultural relics: the Thượng communal house in Xuân Thành village and the Thượng communal house in Tự Tân village.
Over the past period, historical and cultural relics have been managed, restored, and preserved in accordance with the Law on Cultural Heritage and other current legal regulations. This has ensured practical service to the cultural and spiritual life of the people, making a significant contribution to preserving and promoting the values of historical and cultural relics in the commune.
Along with state investment, the commune has also actively promoted the socialization of the restoration and preservation of historical relics. The people in the commune have contributed many days of labor and hundreds of millions of VND to the protection, management, restoration, and preservation of these relics.
Every year, the organization of festivals at historical sites is ensured in accordance with regulations and local customs, creating a vibrant atmosphere among the people and visitors who come to worship and visit.
With outstanding results in implementing cultural criteria in building new rural areas, Tan Thanh commune was recognized by the Kim Son District People's Committee as a "Commune meeting the standards of new rural culture" in 2015 and also recognized as a "Commune meeting the standards of new rural culture" for the period 2015-2020.
