Teams that have qualified for the 2026 World Cup

By the time of the draw, 42/48 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup had been determined, including:

+ Co-hosts: Canada, Mexico, United States

+ Asia (AFC): Australia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan

+ Africa (CAF): Algeria, Cabo Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia

+ North, Central America and the Caribbean (Concacaf): Curacao, Haiti, Panama

+ South America (CONMEBOL): Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay

+ Oceania (OFC): New Zealand

+ Europe (UEFA): Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland

The remaining teams

6/48 teams participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup have not been determined yet and will only be announced in March 2026.

Four teams will come from the UEFA play-off round of 16 teams, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, North Macedonia, Poland, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales.

The remaining two spots will be contested by six teams - Bolivia, Congo, Iraq, Jamaica, New Caledonia and Suriname - in the 2026 World Cup Intercontinental Play-Off Tournament.

2026 World Cup draw format

As before, the participating teams were divided into four seeding pots for the draw. The host teams were placed in positions A1 (Mexico), B1 (Canada) and D1 (USA), according to the schedule published last year. The full list of seeding pots is as follows:

Group 1: Canada, Mexico, United States, Spain, Argentina, France, United Kingdom, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany

Group 2: Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, Switzerland, Japan, Senegal, Iran, South Korea, Ecuador, Austria, Australia

Pot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa

Pot 4: Jordan, Cabo Verde, Ghana, Curacao, Haiti, New Zealand, 4 European play-off teams A, B, C and D, 2 intercontinental play-off teams

The draw will begin with all teams from pot 1 being drawn into groups A to L. Then pots 2, 3 and 4 will be drawn in order.
