On July 20, Tuoi Tre Online recorded that at the Nha Trang Tourist Wharf (Nam Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa), the number of tourists going on island tours was crowded because it was the peak summer tourist season.

Boats comply with regulations, ensuring safety for tourists

The activity of taking tourists to visit the islands in Nha Trang Bay is bustling. In recent days, the wharf has recorded the number of tourists taking island tours of about 7,000 - 9,000 people/day. The number of ships entering and leaving is over 500 trips per day.

According to boat owners at the wharf, most arriving tourists are guided to board the boat and line up in turn, so there is rarely any jostling or overcrowding. Tour groups booked by travel companies all have tour guides to assist with transportation.

Mr. Duong Thai - owner of Ngoc Nhi tourist canoe rental service - said that tourists who book tours on his vehicles are supported in arranging trips. All canoes have life jackets to prevent accidents, even when there are many customers, the vehicles still come and go in turns to ensure high safety for tourists.

Regarding cruise tourism, Mr. Do Van Tiep - representative of Aman Cruise - said that depending on weather conditions, the Maritime Port Authority and the Tourist Wharf will issue orders for the ship to depart. If the weather is complicated or there is a bad weather forecast, the ship will not be allowed to depart.

"Tourists are provided with full life jackets. The type of life jacket used is the type that is worn across the waist and automatically deploys when entering the water. Tourists are instructed on how to use it when boarding the ship. In addition, life rafts and life buoys are also equipped at a rate of 15 people/piece" - Mr. Tiep informed.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Tran Van Phu - Head of Nha Trang Tourist Wharf Management Department (under Nha Trang Bay Management Board) - said that for the operation of tourist boats on Nha Trang Bay, the wharf management always coordinates with the waterway traffic police and border guards to strictly implement regulations on safety in transporting passengers.

"After the tourist boat capsized in Ha Long Bay, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board also announced to strengthen response to bad and unusual weather conditions to avoid unfortunate incidents," said Mr. Phu.

In response to adverse weather conditions, Nha Trang Bay Management Board has also set up groups on social networks, coordinated with the hydrometeorological station, the Maritime Port Authority and the participation of ship owners and businesses operating in the bay so that when there is unusual weather, they will be informed immediately and receive timely support.

According to Mr. Phu, in the near future, Nha Trang Bay Management Board will continue to advocate to maintain a detailed hydrometeorological forecasting model, so that tourist boats, aquaculture activities, and tourists swimming in Nha Trang can quickly grasp information and prevent the worst cases from happening.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dong Ly - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Province Police (PC08) - said that the waterway police unit has increased inspections of the activities of ships and boats carrying tourists to the islands in Nha Trang Bay.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ly, PC08 will check and compare departure documents, number of passengers, auxiliary means to ensure safety... of each ship and boat when carrying passengers to the islands. Any ship that violates or does not comply will be strictly handled according to the law.

When storms and tornadoes occur at sea, absolutely do not take your boat out to sea. “We have the boat owners sign a commitment to comply with legal regulations in transporting passengers, ensuring order and safety at sea,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ly.
