Techfest Vietnam has many new features, held for the first time around Hoan Kiem Lake

For the first time, the National Creative Startup Festival (Techfest Vietnam) took place in an open cultural space around Hoan Kiem Lake, aiming to bring science and technology into public life and closer to all people.

On the afternoon of December 3, in Hanoi , the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hanoi People's Committee held a press conference to introduce the National Innovation and Startup Festival 2025 (Techfest Vietnam 2025).

With the theme "Creative startups for all people - New growth drivers", Techfest Vietnam 2025 takes place from December 12 to 14. The event is implemented in an open space model, on the walking streets around Hoan Kiem Lake, creating conditions for people to directly access and experience new technology products and modern business models.

At the press conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology Tran Anh Tuan said that Techfest Vietnam 2025 has many innovations. For the first time, the technology forum has been brought to an open cultural space, integrated into public life and brought closer to the city's people.

This is an important difference, thereby strongly spreading the spirit of creative entrepreneurship, contributing to promoting the process of building Vietnam into a creative startup nation.

According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, organizing in a space familiar to the people helps to better reach the community, bringing modern and latest technology closer to the public. This is also an experience learned from Singapore, starting from the economic problems of the people, from which to develop into large enterprises, even unicorns.

The leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Hanoi City chose this approach to facilitate people's access to new technology.

This year's event has about 700 booths around the meeting area, creating opportunities for people to experience and for businesses and creative groups, especially in the digital and new technology fields, to demonstrate and introduce products.

The exhibition areas are divided into thematic areas, creating a specialized space for viewers to choose, investors to research, access the ecosystem and seek opportunities for cooperation, technology transfer, buying and selling research results or investing in shares.

The ultimate goal is to help research products and small startups develop into commercial enterprises, even unicorns. Techfest is the peak event, but networking activities take place all year round. The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology will play a supporting role, supporting the maintenance of contacts and business deals after the event.

In addition to the specialized workshops in fixed areas, there will be many discussion sessions at cafes, restaurants and public spaces, helping the startup community exchange ideas more easily. This is the first time this organization has been applied.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh said that start-up opportunities are open to all classes. People can form many new business models based on technology, from manufacturing, services to content creation.

As digital technology becomes more widespread, people can access online public services, do business through digital platforms, livestream sales, or exploit open data to develop new products.

Therefore, innovative startups are not only limited to startups, but spread to all people, all industries and regions. The core of the ecosystem is still organizations and individuals who build products based on technology, but the biggest effect lies in the ability to popularize it to the community.

Techfest Vietnam 2025 is therefore held in an open space, instead of the indoor model like previous years.

A new point of Techfest Vietnam 2025 is the introduction of the "one-person business" model.

According to Deputy Minister Hoang Minh, current technology and digital platforms allow an individual to register a business, self-manage costs, pay taxes and operate a business through applications.

The Ministry of Science and Technology aims to form about 7 million one-person businesses in the coming time, creating a new business model that is more transparent and flexible than previous household businesses.

Techfest Vietnam 2025 focuses on building a startup culture, the most important of which is the spirit of "tolerance for failure". When starting a business, especially in the technology field, there are always potential risks, so society needs to create space for those who fail to have the opportunity to start again.

The participants of Techfest Vietnam 2025 are very diverse: students, universities, startups, domestic and foreign investment funds, technology enterprises, etc., reflecting the whole picture of the Vietnamese startup ecosystem. Above all, the role of the State in creating and the creative spirit of the Vietnamese people.

Techfest Vietnam 2025 is expected to attract more than 60,000 direct and online participants, from corporations, startups, investment funds, support organizations, technology incubators, research institutes, universities, along with representatives of typical businesses, corporations, scientists, women, youth, senior entrepreneurs and delegates from the domestic and 6 international innovation startup ecosystems, including: Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, Central Asia, Middle East, North America, Europe.
