Li Cha Yuan was born in 1991 in Jinan, Shandong (China). At the age of eight, his parents divorced, and Cha Yuan lived with his mother. Because his parents were busy with work, they had little time to care for him, and he gradually became withdrawn and his academic performance declined.
Worried about her son's situation, the mother decided to let Cha Vien live with his grandfather. His grandfather taught him daily and took him everywhere to experience life. At the same time, his grandfather enlightened him, explaining that even though his parents were divorced, they still loved Cha Vien.
Later, he told Cha Yuan many stories about the great lives of scientists in China. This inspired him to become a useful person for his country. Under his guidance, Cha Yuan studied diligently.
His grandfather helped him develop a suitable study plan. During this time, the young man caught up with his peers and achieved many outstanding academic results. After graduating from junior high school, Cha Yuan was directly admitted to Xiamen Foreign Language High School (China).
Aiming for Yale University (USA) as his grandfather had envisioned, Cha Vien focused on his studies from the 10th grade onwards. However, the more he studied, the more overwhelmed he became and the further he strayed from his goal. Competing in both the domestic university entrance exam and applying to American universities left Cha Vien completely overloaded.
At this time, he decided not to apply to Tsinghua University (China) but to focus all his efforts on Yale University (USA). To achieve his goal, Cha Yuan had to pass the TOEFL and SAT exams. Recalling that time, Cha Yuan said he studied anytime, anywhere, from in bed, at his desk, even while showering or using the toilet. But because of his flawed study methods, he forgot what he had learned immediately afterward.
He realized that even with hard work, continuing to study in that way would make it difficult to get into Yale University (USA). Recognizing that his study methods were unscientific, Cha Vien sought out a learning approach that suited him. With continuous effort, the student finally found a suitable method. As a result, in the TOEFL and SAT exams, Cha Vien achieved scores of 116/120 and 2200/2400 respectively.
With near-perfect scores, Cha Yuan received his acceptance letter from Yale University at the age of 18. He became the first student from Fujian (China) to be admitted to Yale University's economics program. In addition, the student received a full scholarship worth $55,000 per year (1.3 billion VND) from the university.
In 2013, after graduating with honors, he received an offer from Microsoft. However, Cha Vien declined it to join the multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs. After working with the company for two years, he quit to start his own business. At the age of 24, he became the CEO of a company that created a travel app.
During his time running the company, he encountered many difficulties. Therefore, in 2015, he decided to pursue an MBA at Harvard University. While studying at Harvard, Cha Vien published numerous academic papers.
In addition, several articles sharing his study methods were published on public platforms. Thanks to this, he attracted a large readership. While studying, he also summarized his own methods and published the book "Master of Study ."
The book received positive feedback from readers after its publication. Among them, renowned educator Chu Yongxin, CCTV host Kang Hui, and Fan Deng, founder of the Book Club, all highly praised it. "In this book, I have systematized over 100 practical learning methods. I believe it will be very useful for everyone," Cha Yuan shared.
In 2017, after graduating with a master's degree from Harvard University, Cha Vien received an offer to stay at the university as a lecturer with a salary of $1 million per year (over 24 billion VND). However, he declined to return to Vietnam and start the LEO project, which focuses on education to help many students in the country realize their dreams.
Cha Yuan is considered an academic master and a national role model for the 90s generation. With the successes achieved at the age of 28, Cha Yuan was included in Forbes China 's 30 Under 30 list in 2019.
Currently, he is not only an entrepreneur but also the author of inspirational books such as: "The Best Thing Is to Overcome It"; "Becoming a Master Learner Is Not a Dream" ; "Elementary School Students Become Master Learners" and "How to Advance Your Career" ...
The story and real-life experiences shared by Chá Viễn show that everyone has unlimited potential. No matter which path we take, we must be courageous enough to pursue challenges, overcome limitations, and become the best version of ourselves.
