On the afternoon of November 26th, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and head coach Masatada Ishii officially announced the 26-player squad for the 2024 AFF Cup. Many veterans such as Chanathip Songkrasin, Teerasil Dangda, Sarach Yooyen, and Theerathon Bunmathan were not included in this list.
Nevertheless, the Thai team's squad is still considered very strong, notably featuring Ekanit Panya, Supachai, Suphanat, Nicholas Mickelson, Kritsada, Pansa Hemviboon, Chalermsak, Jonathan Khemdee, Worachit, Ben Davis... In this training camp, coach Masatada Ishii only called up one newcomer, defender Kritsada Nontharat (True Bangkok United).
With this squad, the "War Elephants" are still capable of challenging regional rivals and aiming for the AFF Cup 2024 title. The Thai national team's high level of determination at the AFF Cup 2024 is not surprising, as they failed to reach the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, so they are focusing all their efforts on the regional tournament with the goal of winning the championship.
According to the plan, the Thai national team will assemble on December 2nd and train at the BG Pathum United training center before traveling to Vietnam on December 5th to prepare for their opening match of the AFF Cup 2024 against Timor Leste at Hang Day Stadium on December 8th.
