According to a survey by the aviation website Aviation A2Z, the current income of flight attendants in Vietnam ranges from 20 to 40 million VND per month.
However, the income level can be higher depending on the airline, experience, rank, and whether the flights are domestic or international…
Besides the advantages of the profession such as a decent salary, insurance policies, and opportunities for experience, flight attendants often face pressure from passengers and irregular working hours, which can easily lead to sleep and lifestyle disruptions.
Besides flight attendants, police and military academies also have their own physical requirements for admission.
In military schools, according to current regulations, the group of schools training command, political , and logistics officers requires candidates to be at least 1.65m tall, weigh at least 50kg, and does not accept candidates with nearsightedness; their body mass index (BMI) must be below 30.
The group of military schools specializing in technical fields such as engineering, medicine, etc., recruits candidates who are at least 1.63m tall and weigh at least 50kg; they also recruit candidates with myopia of no more than 3 degrees.
For candidates in Zone 1, mountainous areas, and islands, candidates with a height of 1.62m or more will be eligible to apply.
According to Circular 62/2023 of the Ministry of Public Security , which stipulates specific health standards for the People's Public Security force, the required height is from 1.64m to 1.95m for men and from 1.58m to 1.80m for women.
Specific health standards for police academy admissions require applicants from ethnic minorities and university graduates to have a height of 1.62m to 1.95m for men and 1.56m to 1.8m for women.
Candidates applying for high school-level cultural education programs are eligible for direct admission and those applying through a selection process must meet height requirements of 1.55m or more for males and 1.5m or more for females.
Regarding physical requirements in university admissions, some non-specialized universities have caused controversy by setting inappropriate admission criteria, facing much opposition.
Most recently, in 2024, the School of Management and Business (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) introduced a height requirement for admissions in the 2024-2025 academic year, stipulating that female candidates must be at least 1.58m tall and male candidates at least 1.65m tall, sparking much controversy. Subsequently, the school was reprimanded by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also previously planned to introduce minimum height requirements for teacher training programs. Specifically, female candidates would need to be at least 1.50m tall, and male candidates at least 1.55m tall. For the physical education program, male candidates would need to be at least 1.65m tall and weigh at least 50kg, while female candidates would need to be at least 1.55m tall and weigh at least 45kg.
Following the backlash, the school removed the physical requirements from its admissions plan.
