The overpass at the intersection with National Highway 8, part of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway project, is currently being paved with asphalt by Dai Hiep Co., Ltd., with the bridge surface and access roads to be opened to traffic in the coming days.
On December 26th, taking advantage of the dry weather after a long period of heavy rain and low temperatures, Dai Hiep Co., Ltd. paved the surface of the overpass at the intersection of National Highway 8 with asphalt concrete, and the access roads to both ends of the bridge, to allow traffic to resume in the next two days.
Engineer Vuong Dao Chau from Dai Hiep Co., Ltd. reported that bad weather has significantly affected the construction progress. The overpass at the National Highway 8 intersection is being prioritized to ensure traffic can resume within the next two days. Currently, the company has paved the bridge surface and is completing the approach roads at both ends.
Opening the overpass at the National Highway 8 intersection will alleviate congestion on the service road previously used for the project's construction.
The surface of the overpass on National Highway 8 was paved with C12.5 asphalt concrete a few days earlier. According to engineer Chau, the reason it was not possible to pave it continuously to open the bridge sooner was due to bad weather, which did not meet the requirements for asphalt paving.
The bridge's railing system had already been installed by workers beforehand. This is an item that is not affected by the weather.
The asphalt paving of the access roads to both ends of the bridge will be completed today (December 27th).

Engineers supervise the asphalt concrete compaction to ensure the quality of the road surface leading to the bridge.
The overpass at the National Highway 8 intersection, along with the Hung Duc bridge (spanning the Lam River, connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces) and the rest stop, are three important components of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway section passing through Ha Tinh.
At the access road to the roundabout at the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway interchange, the construction unit is currently backfilling with sand; the box culvert system has been completed. Technical opening is expected in May 2024. If the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway is completed on schedule, from May 2024, people from Ha Tinh traveling to Hanoi and other northern provinces and cities can use National Highway 8, passing through the interchange, and then access the expressway.
The North-South Expressway Eastern section, phase 2017-2020, specifically the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, has a total length of over 49km, passing through three districts in Nghe An province (44.4km) and Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province (4.9km). It is one of three component projects invested under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. In the phased construction, the project will have 4 lanes and a roadbed width of 17m, with sections where the roadbed is excavated and embanked having a width of 32.25m. In the completed phase, the project will be expanded to 6 lanes with a roadbed width of 32.25m. The project has a total investment capital of over 11,157 billion VND in the phased implementation, of which 5,090 billion VND is mobilized by investors and over 6,067 billion VND is state capital. The project commenced in 2021 and is expected to be completed in May 2024. The payback period for the operational costs is 16 years, 6 months, and 8 days. | |
