In March, Nghe An's industrial production index increased by 9.17%.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the Industrial Production Index (IIP) for March 2024 is estimated to have increased by 9.17% compared to the same period last year. Specifically: Electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution increased by 11.53%; manufacturing increased by 9.12%; mining increased by 8.99%; while water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment decreased by 1.67%.

In March 2024, taking advantage of favorable conditions both domestically and within the province, businesses accelerated production, expanded their business scale, and new factories and projects were implemented and put into stable operation, contributing to the province's economic growth, such as: biomass pellets, Taical additive granules from Mega factories, electronic components, and automotive spare parts.

Several manufactured products showed significant growth compared to the same period last year, including: wood shavings and chips, estimated at 22.0 thousand tons, up 90.87%; processed stone, estimated at 106.5 thousand , up 80.77%; cable manufacturing services, estimated at VND 573.4 billion, up 79.80%; ready-mix concrete, estimated at 30.2 thousand , up 42.82%; cardboard boxes, estimated at 1.8 million units, up 32.45%; headphones without microphones, estimated at 3.5 million units, up 31.33%; paper packaging, estimated at 4.8 million units, up 25.42%; fresh milk, estimated at 28.0 million liters, up 19.47%; and sugar, estimated at 31.5 thousand tons, up 13.02%. Electricity production in the month is estimated at 190 million kWh, an increase of 11.93%; cement clinker production is estimated at 686.7 thousand tons, an increase of 10.56%.

Besides the advantages, some businesses are facing difficulties in production, including decreased exports, difficulty securing orders, high input material prices, some factories unable to recruit the required workforce, slow consumer markets, and difficulty selling manufactured products. As a result, production did not meet planned targets, such as: charging docks estimated at 985,000 units, down 48.64%; BSE speakers estimated at 4.1 million units, down 35.52%; bottled beer estimated at 2.8 million liters, down 34.27%; fish sauce estimated at 25.0 million liters, down 28.19%; Tien Phong plastic pipes estimated at 1,300 tons, down 16.86%; yogurt estimated at 4,100 tons, down 14.96%; and animal feed estimated at 12,500 tons, down 9.39%. Construction stone production is estimated at 223,000 , a decrease of 8.19%.

Overall, in the first three months of 2024, the industrial production index increased by 8.07% compared to the same period last year. Specifically: the water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment sector increased by 13.03%; the manufacturing industry increased by 8.94%; the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning increased by 2.79%; and the mining industry decreased by 1.57%.
