The decision to posthumously promote the officers was signed by the Ministry of Public Security on the morning of July 31st, one day after three traffic police officers died in the Bảo Lộc pass. Accordingly, Officer Nguyễn Khắc Thường, 42 years old, was promoted from Major to Lieutenant Colonel; and Officers Lê Quang Thành, 46 years old, and Lê Ánh Sáng, 33 years old, were promoted from First Lieutenant to Captain.
According to a report from the Lam Dong Provincial Police, at approximately 2:30 PM yesterday, upon receiving information about a landslide at the Bao Loc Pass checkpoint, several officers and soldiers from the Madagui Traffic Police station, who were on patrol, returned to the checkpoint to help residents move vehicles and equipment. Suddenly, hundreds of cubic meters of earth and rocks slid down from the hilltop, burying three officers and one local resident who was working nearby and assisting in moving belongings.

Lam Dong province mobilized 200 police officers, soldiers, and other forces, along with nearly 20 vehicles (excavators, dump trucks, drilling machines, detectors, etc.), to urgently search for victims buried under the rubble and mitigate the consequences. By evening of the same day, authorities had found the bodies of three traffic police officers.
This morning, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, along with leaders of Lam Dong province, visited the landslide site. He urged authorities to quickly address the consequences of the landslide while also ensuring the absolute safety of the personnel involved.
Visiting the family of Lieutenant Le Anh Sang (in Ward 2, Bao Loc City), the Government leader offered condolences and encouragement to the relatives of the officer who sacrificed his life while on duty and was buried under landslides. He requested Lam Dong province to allocate funds, provide support, and organize funerals for the officers, soldiers, and civilians.
