This information was given by Bach Ma National Park at the ASEAN Heritage Park Conference (AHP) held in Quang Ninh on December 3.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh, Director of Bach Ma National Park, in the past 3 years since being recognized as AHP, the unit has consistently implemented governance according to AHP standards, taking data evidence as the foundation, connecting the community, developing responsible ecotourism and mobilizing sustainable multi-resources.
Notably, there have been no forest fires for three consecutive years thanks to 10 multi-level forest fire prevention and fighting drills and close inter-sectoral coordination.
Regarding digital transformation and science and technology, Bach Ma National Park has equipped 100% of ranger stations with digital devices. In addition, the Park has tested AI to identify species through camera traps, radio-tracking to monitor yellow-fronted box turtles after release, and exploiting AI assistants in data analysis and report building. More than 30 domestic and foreign institutes and schools have conducted field research; updating the Park's list with more than 73 new species for science (50 plant species, 23 animal species). Camera traps have recorded the reappearance of Asian bears, zebra civets, and the populations of pangolins, serows, and primates tend to increase.
Regarding ecotourism, from 2023 to 2025, the Park will welcome 66,700 visitors, including more than 18,300 international visitors, with ticket revenue of more than 3.5 billion VND. Along with that, the Park has built specialized tours such as conquering Do Quyen waterfall, bird watching, experiencing nature for students, and organizing a race for wildlife conservation. According to the 2024 - 2030 Project, Bach Ma has signed and negotiated forest environment lease contracts with 10 businesses at 13 locations/routes according to the plan, ensuring benefit sharing with the community.
Recently, Bach Ma National Park has also supported livelihoods for 41 buffer zone villages with a budget of 40 - 50 million VND/village/year and strengthened legal communication work.
According to Mr. Linh, entering a new phase, Bach Ma National Park aims to upgrade the monitoring system based on big data and AI, expand co-management with the buffer zone community, promote the restoration of key habitats, develop ecotourism and diversify revenue sources; and aim for sustainable finance...
