An Giang Bodybuilding affirms its strength

At the end of the 2025 National Bodybuilding Championship, the An Giang bodybuilding team competed excellently, ranking third in the women's team and third in the overall team, continuing to affirm the strength of An Giang bodybuilding.

The 2025 National Bodybuilding Championship is organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation. The tournament brings together nearly 150 athletes from 13 units, provinces and cities across the country to compete in 33 categories, including: Men's bodybuilding (9 weight categories), women's bodybuilding (4 weight categories), mixed-pair bodybuilding (4 weight categories), absolute bodybuilding championship (all-around men and women), men's and women's classical bodybuilding (8 weight categories) and men's and women's fitness (6 events).

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Head coach of An Giang bodybuilding department said: "This is the most important event in the annual competition system of Vietnam's bodybuilding department, especially at a time when localities are actively preparing their forces for the competition at the National Sports Festival in 2026, so all units have carefully prepared their participating forces. An Giang bodybuilding team sent 12 athletes to participate in both bodybuilding and fitness events."

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, the current Vietnamese bodybuilding team athletes are all selected from those who have achieved excellent results in national championships. The results of this year's competition will be an important basis for selecting and supplementing the national team, preparing to participate in regional and international competitions in the coming time, aiming to defend the first place of the entire team at the 2025 World Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships taking place in November in Indonesia.

After a period of exciting competition, Ho Chi Minh City continued to affirm its strength in the national arena when the Ho Chi Minh City team ranked first overall, with 8 gold medals, 10 silver medals, 10 bronze medals; Ho Chi Minh City 2 team ranked second overall, with 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 3 bronze medals. The An Giang bodybuilding team competed excellently, winning 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, ranked third in the women's team and third overall. Athletes winning gold medals include: Pham Van Mach in the men's singles bodybuilding category up to 60kg; Le Hoai Thuong in the men's singles bodybuilding category up to 70kg; Dinh Thi Kim An - Le Hoai Thuong in the mixed-women's doubles bodybuilding category up to 46kg; To Lan Nhi in the women's fitness category up to 160cm. Male athlete Le Hoai Thuong shared: “I am very happy and pleased to win 2 gold medals, contributing to the overall achievements of the unit at this tournament. This is the motivation for me to continue to train hard, trying to achieve the best results at the upcoming important tournaments.”

Athletes winning silver medals include: Nguyen Minh My in men's singles bodybuilding up to 80kg; Dang Thi Kim An in women's singles bodybuilding up to 46kg; Dinh Kim Loan in women's singles bodybuilding up to 52kg; Phan Huynh Duc in men's singles bodybuilding up to 75kg; To Lan Nhi - Phan Huynh Duc in mixed-women's doubles bodybuilding up to 49kg.

In recent years, An Giang bodybuilding has been one of the strong units in the national arena. Many athletes have competed successfully in domestic, regional and international arenas, bringing high achievements to An Giang sports. Mr. Nguyen Van Hai said that in the coming time, the department will continue to review and select athletes with qualities to add to the talent pool to build a deep force. At the same time, create conditions for young and talented athletes to compete and accumulate experience, improve their professional qualifications, aiming for high achievements in upcoming tournaments.

“In the immediate future, An Giang athletes who achieved high results at the 2025 National Bodybuilding Championship such as Pham Van Mach, Dinh Kim Loan, To Lan Nhi, Phan Huynh Duc... will be the core force of the national bodybuilding team competing in the World Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in November 2025 in Indonesia,” Mr. Hai shared.
