According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), by the end of October, Vietnam's squid and octopus export turnover reached 627 million USD, up 19% over the same period last year. Although domestic raw material supply is scarce, October is still the month with the highest export turnover of squid and octopus since the beginning of the year - 83 million USD.

The reason is that international markets increase demand at the end of the year, especially for convenient and ready-to-eat products. The main export markets are countries in the East Asia and ASEAN regions. South Korea remains the largest partner, followed by Japan and Thailand.

The special thing about these markets is that the consumption trend is shifting strongly towards convenient products such as instant dried squid, dried squid, and processed octopus. Markets such as Korea and Japan especially favor processed products, helping to increase the export of Vietnamese squid and octopus.

This opens up great opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises processing and exporting squid and octopus, as the consumption trend of pre-processed products increases sharply. According to forecasts, if the domestic supply of raw materials is stable, the fourth quarter of 2025 may witness an additional growth of 10-15% compared to the third quarter.

Previously, according to statistics from the Customs Department, as of November 15, the total import-export turnover of the whole country reached more than 801 billion USD, exceeding the results achieved in 2024 (786.29 billion USD), becoming the highest level ever and even surpassing the forecast of 800 billion USD given by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in September. With this result, Vietnam has officially entered the group of 15 countries with the largest trade turnover in the world.

Of which, exports reached 410.28 billion USD, imports reached 390.74 billion USD. Notably, many items set new export records such as: lobster, durian, cashew nuts, coffee, electronic equipment.
