In a new study recently published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports, experts investigated the relationship between coffee consumption and emotional states in daily life.
A team of authors from Bielefeld University (Germany), in collaboration with experts at Warwick University (UK), Tartu University and Tallinn University in Estonia, conducted two studies.
Study 1 analyzed data from 115 participants aged 18-25, over a period of 14 days.
Study 2 included 121 participants aged 18-29 and lasted 28 days.
As a result, both studies found that a morning cup of coffee can actually help you feel energized, leading to increased positive emotions, especially when consumed within 2.5 hours of waking up, according to the medical news site News Medical .

At the same time, the two studies also showed that while all positive emotions improved, the feeling of "enthusiasm" increased most dramatically – highlighting the particular link between caffeine and an energetic mood.
The researchers concluded: This study provides concrete evidence that caffeine increases positive emotions, especially right after waking up.
They explain that the reason a morning cup of coffee works wonders is because caffeine blocks sleep-inducing signals. Caffeine's mood-boosting effects partly stem from its ability to block adenosine receptors in the brain, reducing fatigue signals and boosting neurotransmitters like noradrenaline and dopamine—which can improve mood, according to News Medical .
In short, caffeine really does help boost a positive mood, especially in the morning. Tea also has a similar effect because it contains caffeine.
