A candidate with a broken right arm arrived at the examination site to complete the registration procedures on the morning of June 5th.
At the exam center at Doan Thi Diem Secondary School (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Van Thanh, a student from Le Loi Secondary School (District 3), tried to arrive on time to complete the exam registration procedures despite having a broken right arm that was in a cast.
Speaking to a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper, Van Thanh said he felt sad because he had fallen while riding his motorbike three weeks before the exam. "On May 13th, I fell off my motorbike. I had already submitted my applications. My first choice was Marie Curie High School and my second was Han Thuyen High School, but now I'm not very confident. I can write the math and English exam papers, but I need help with the literature exam," the student said.
Van Thanh said that everyone in his family encouraged him, but he was still quite worried about the literature exam (which is tomorrow morning, June 6th).
Students register for the 10th grade entrance exam on the morning of June 5th at the exam center located at Doan Thi Diem Secondary School, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
According to officials at the examination site, options for assisting the candidate with the broken right arm will be considered at this afternoon's meeting with the examination steering committee to reach a conclusion.
On the morning of June 5th, 96,325 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year at the examination centers to complete the necessary procedures. Of these 96,325 candidates, 88,237 students registered for regular 10th grade classes and approximately 8,000 students registered for specialized or integrated 10th grade classes.
According to regulations from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the target for student placement after lower secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2023-2024 school year is 70% of lower secondary school graduates entering public high schools. This year, 108,000 students graduated from lower secondary school in Ho Chi Minh City, but more than 96,325 registered to take the entrance exam for public high schools. With a target of approximately 77,000 students, nearly 20,000 will not attend public high schools after the entrance exam.
