Candidates in Hung Yen achieved record high scores in the 2023 competency assessment test

Hanoi National University has just announced the 2023 HSA score distribution of all 8 exam sessions, lasting from March to June in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh , Hai Phong and Nghe An.

The top scorer in all 8 exams this year is a candidate from Hung Yen with 133/150 points (2 points lower than last year's top scorer).

Coming in second is a candidate from Vinh Phuc with 129 points. The next two positions are candidates from Thai Binh with 128 and Hanoi with 126 points. All four candidates took the exam twice.

According to the assessment, the average score this year is 77.1, 2.2 points lower than last year. The test score distribution curve is similar to last year's distribution.

According to Hanoi National University, the average score this year decreased compared to last year because the scale of this year's HSA exam increased nearly 1.5 times, the exam period took place in 2.5 months, and the maximum number of exam sessions for candidates was reduced to two sessions instead of many sessions like last year (each session was at least 28 days apart).

This year, Hanoi National University organized 8 rounds of competency assessment exams. The number of candidates registered for the exam was more than 90,000, of which more than 29,100 candidates registered for the second exam. The official number of candidates was more than 87,000, of which 37% came from Hanoi, followed by Nam Dinh with 7%.

This year's competency assessment test consists of three parts: Quantitative Thinking (Mathematics), Qualitative Thinking (Literature - Language) and Science (Natural - Social). Each part has 50 questions. Total test time is 195 minutes.

Of the 150 questions, 132 are multiple choice with one correct answer, 18 are fill-in-the-blank (15 Math, three Physics, Chemistry, Biology). The knowledge asked is mainly from the 12th grade program. Candidates take the test on a computer and complete it in one session. Scores are displayed immediately after the test time ends.

Currently, 74 universities and academies have said they will use the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam for admission. Many schools have announced the minimum score for this method at 75-85. Only 12 schools and faculties under Hanoi National University will use the same score of 80/150.
