Historic admission period: Virtual aspirations in the South increased sharply, exceeding 170%

(Dan Tri) - In the 2025 admission period, the Southern virtual filtering team conducted 15 rounds of filtering with more than 1.59 million wishes, reaching the largest scale ever. The virtual rate recorded was up to more than 170%.

The above information was shared by Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cao Vinh, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University, at the conference summarizing the work of filtering virtual groups in the South and organizing the 2025 capacity assessment exam taking place on the afternoon of December 5.

Associate Professor Dr. Cao Vinh assessed that this year's admissions period is very special when witnessing a surge in the number of applications, diversity in admission methods and increasingly complex technical requirements.

In this year's admission period, there were more than 1.59 million wishes, reaching the largest scale ever. Meanwhile, the total expenditure of schools in the group is more than 301,000 students.

The virtual filtering in the group took place 15 times. On average, each virtual filtering session, the group had nearly 900,000 successful applications, an increase of 41.27% compared to 2024.

The average virtual size comparison through 15 virtual filtering times of the Southern group is 520,000 wishes/1 virtual filtering time of the group.

The average overall virtual ratio of the entire Southern group is 172.52%, nearly double the 2024 level of 90.16%.

This ratio reflects the fact that the number of virtual wishes among schools in the group is very high, requiring the system to perform more virtual filtering rounds to minimize virtual numbers in the group.

Regarding the 2026 plan, Ho Chi Minh City National University informed that the Southern group will tighten data quality control to ensure accurate and consistent information and avoid repeating the mistakes of 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City National University also proposed to continue maintaining the Southern group model coordinated by this unit; organize training and practice virtual filtering earlier with the participation of representatives of the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Higher Education and the Department of Science, Technology and Information ( Ministry of Education and Training ) to review the entire data process; upgrade the system and practice data to simulate virtual filtering.
