Lack of funding, Vung Tau's first Sea and Island Festival had to stop operating

On the evening of May 24th, the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province issued a document to relevant units, departments, and Vung Tau city regarding the suspension of all activities related to the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024," even though some events had already taken place.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has agreed to suspend all activities of the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024" from 5 PM on May 24th.

At the same time, we request that the Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund send a press release to news agencies and media outlets regarding the cancellation of the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024" so that tourists and the public are aware.

The construction crew is removing the items that had been prepared for the art performance.

In addition, the organizers of the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024" promptly removed all items and handed over the site to the Vung Tau City People's Committee before 12 PM on May 26th.

The Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund "is responsible for paying all implementation costs (including contract compensation) to the relevant parties as agreed. The Vung Tau City People's Committee is requested to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police to supervise the clearing and handover of the site. Action will be taken against organizations and individuals who intentionally delay or prolong the process," the document states.

Previously, the Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund also sent a document to the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province proposing to suspend some activities in the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024".

At the meeting on May 24th between the Department of Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, the Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund, and Olabay Vietnam Joint Stock Company, representatives of Olabay Vietnam Joint Stock Company reported on the cancellation of the "Journey of Aspiration" art performance program - an activity within the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024" program.

" The Organizing Committee - Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund - does not guarantee the financial capacity and commitments/agreements under contract number 25032024/HĐDV/QPTB-OLABAY dated March 25, 2024, between the Phan Trong Binh Hero of the Armed Forces Social Work Fund and Olabay Vietnam Joint Stock Company."

To minimize all risks, we have suspended all organizational and production work for the art performance program "Journey of Aspiration" – an activity within the "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival – Vung Tau City 2024" program ," stated the report from Olabay Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

Previously, on May 10th, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the Phan Trong Binh People's Armed Forces Hero Social Work Fund held a press conference to introduce the event "Vietnam Sea and Islands Festival - Vung Tau City 2024".

The event's initial goal was to provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood such as shrimp, crab, fish, squid, and signature dishes like banh khot, banh canh, and bun ca, along with unique drinks.

In addition, the event is planned to include a series of activities such as the Minishow The Luminous Harmony Show (nights of May 23rd and 24th), the Yoga Mass Performance Festival (morning of May 24th), the Vietnam Sea and Islands Mobile Propaganda Team (morning of May 24th)... and the Ao Dai Festival.
