Agreement reached on investment for the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500kV LNG transmission line project.

(CTO) - On December 12, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, and Mr. Huynh Chi Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau Province, co-chaired a working session on the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500kV LNG transmission line project.

Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, spoke at the working session to finalize investment in the project.

The objective of the Bac Lieu - Thot Not 500kV LNG transmission line project is to transmit the power of the Bac Lieu LNG power plants into the national power grid, along with other 500kV lines in the region, ensuring stable electricity supply for the Southern region and surrounding areas. The project scope includes the construction of a new 500kV double-circuit transmission line, approximately 135.6 km long (with approximately 78 km passing through Can Tho City and 57.6 km through Ca Mau province). The preliminary total investment is approximately VND 6,187 billion.

According to the National Power Transmission Corporation, the project is expected to commence construction in the second quarter of 2027 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028. The consulting unit has also worked with Ca Mau province to agree on the route; and is closely coordinating with Can Tho city to finalize the project route, so that the project can be implemented and completed on schedule.

During the meeting, leaders of Can Tho City and Ca Mau Province expressed their support and agreement on the project. The leaders of the two localities also noted that the investor, relevant agencies, and consulting unit need to pay close attention to the project's route. In addition to avoiding existing infrastructure or those included in the general plan, attention should be paid to land clearance, compensation, and resettlement support for affected households in accordance with regulations.
