Sharing at the Vietnam Agricultural Products Week 2025 organized by the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Luong Van Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Economic and Trade Information Consultants, assessed that Vietnam has many agricultural products ranked in the world such as: Rice was once awarded first prize in the world, coffee ranked second in the world and pepper was also once ranked first, cashew nuts still maintain the number one position... In addition, there are many seafood products that have been ranked in the world.
"Vietnam has all the conditions to become the world 's kitchen with all kinds of agricultural products, especially in the context of rapid growth in agricultural exports in recent times," Mr. Luong Van Tu emphasized.

Taking rice as an example, Mr. Tu said that Vietnam is exporting raw rice, even if it is good quality rice, it is only worth 600 USD/ton, but if it is turned into rice flour and sold to Europe, the price can increase 3-4 times. Similarly, cashew nuts can also reach 3-4 times higher value if processed.
“With coffee, if you sell green coffee beans, you will only earn 4-5 USD/kg, but if you turn them into a cup of coffee, it can be worth up to 20 times more than the raw product. Therefore, to increase the value of agricultural products, thereby improving the income and life of farmers, we must pay more attention to quality and invest in the process from production to processing and preservation,” said former Deputy Minister Luong Van Tu.
In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to building and perfecting standards for Vietnamese goods, to improve the quality of agricultural products, carry out agricultural processing and find good markets. At the same time, it is necessary to build big brands because the product brand itself brings 25% of the value of goods...

From a business perspective, Mr. Paul Le, Vice President of Central Retail Group, shared that the most important thing for each Vietnamese agricultural product is to build a story based on the country's history and traditions. In addition, it is necessary to apply creativity and learning, learning from the stories told by farmers.
For example, Central is telling the story of Vietnamese fish sauce around the world so that people in many countries know that "the best fish sauce must be in Vietnam and of Vietnam". Vietnamese people have many "secrets" to improve agricultural products such as fermentation methods, taking advantage of wind drying on the mountain... to preserve all the essence in coffee beans, to build a robusta coffee product that can compete with products from Columbia, Brazil...
Mr. Tran Gia Long, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) said that agricultural exports continued to record a significant increase. The agricultural export turnover in September was estimated at 6.35 billion USD, up 11.8% compared to September 2024, bringing the total agricultural export turnover in the first 9 months of 2025 to 52.31 billion USD, up 14% over the same period last year.
Of which, the export value of agricultural products reached 28.51 billion USD, up 16.8%; the export value of livestock products reached 447.5 million USD, up 18.6%; the export value of aquatic products reached 8.12 billion USD, up 12.3%; the export value of forestry products reached 13.41 billion USD, up 7.4%.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in recent months, although the agricultural sector has faced many challenges from natural disasters and epidemics, agricultural exports have maintained a high growth momentum. The market structure has changed positively. The above results were achieved thanks to the regular and close attention and direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the flexible management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Especially the participation of local authorities at two levels, the initiative of businesses and people...
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment affirmed that if the average export value growth rate is maintained as in the past months, agricultural exports could reach 67 billion USD by the end of 2025. In more favorable circumstances, the figure could reach more than 70 billion USD.
