Upon arrival at Dalian Airport (Dalian, Liaoning Province, China), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was welcomed by Liaoning Vice Governor Jin Guowei, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Ba, and Dalian Vice Mayor Leng Xuefeng. Representing Vietnam were Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai and embassy staff. Immediately upon arrival in Dalian, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to begin a packed schedule of important activities. The agenda for June 25th will be particularly significant, as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will deliver his first speech at the opening plenary session of the 15th Annual Summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF), alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang and other world leaders. In addition, the Prime Minister will speak at various discussion sessions, and chair dialogues and seminars with the Vietnamese business community.
The Prime Minister's trip to attend this year's WEF Dalian conference is considered to be of great significance.
Firstly, the Conference is an opportunity for Vietnam to grasp and contribute its voice on new issues, trends, meanings, and driving forces for global economic growth, and to exchange ideas on development and governance at the national and global levels.
Secondly, the Conference is an opportunity to promote the achievements of our country's economic and social growth and development, conveying a strong message about Vietnam as a dynamic, innovative country and an attractive destination for global corporations.
Thirdly, the Conference also provides an opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen exchanges and promote relations with countries, partners, and international organizations, affirming our role and position in the international community, and contributing to the effective implementation of the foreign policy guidelines of the 13th Party Congress.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a non-profit organization operating on a public-private partnership model, founded in 1971 by Professor Klaus Schwab and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WEF currently has approximately 700 partners, including leaders of leading global corporations in various fields. WEF events attract top political, business, cultural, social, and academic leaders from around the world to shape regional and global agendas. Since Vietnam and the WEF established relations in 1989, cooperation between the two countries has been actively promoted and developed across many sectors. Leaders from both sides also intensified high-level contacts and exchanges, particularly between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab at the WEF Tianjin Conference (June 2023), the 41st ASEAN Summit (November 2022), and the 43rd ASEAN Summit (September 2023). Vietnam and the WEF also jointly organized many important conferences.
