Prime Minister receives leader of French technology group Thales

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of June 11 local time (afternoon of the same day Hanoi time), in Paris, during a bilateral activity program in the French Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of several leading corporations and enterprises of France and Europe, including the Thales technology group.

Thales is a leading international technology group with more than 81,000 employees worldwide. The group is investing heavily in digital technologies and deep tech initiatives – including big data, artificial intelligence (AI), location technology, cybersecurity and quantum technology. The group has been present in Vietnam since 1994.

The Group proposed cooperation projects on telecommunications satellites, including telecommunications satellites for VINASAT3; said it would work with the French Ministry of Finance on the contents mentioned by the Prime Minister in the satellite field as well as other fields.

The Prime Minister emphasized that space exploitation is an important orientation in Vietnam's development strategy; suggested that Thales cooperate with the Ministry of Science and Technology and VNPT to participate in satellite projects to ensure fair competition and take into account the good relationship between Vietnam and France; clarify issues of capital, technology, and exploitation management for Vietnam to consider and choose; as well as research and expand cooperation in other areas where the group has strengths.
