Prime Minister receives leader of French technology group Thales

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of June 11 local time (afternoon of the same day Hanoi time), in Paris, during a bilateral activity program in the French Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of several leading corporations and enterprises of France and Europe, including the Thales technology group.

A representative from Thales stated that the company is a leading international technology group with over 81,000 employees worldwide. The group is investing heavily in digital technologies and deep tech initiatives – including big data, artificial intelligence (AI), location technology, cybersecurity, and quantum technology. The group has been present in Vietnam since 1994.

The corporation proposed cooperation projects on telecommunications satellites, including a telecommunications satellite for VINASAT3; and stated that it would work with the French Ministry of Finance on the issues mentioned by the Prime Minister in the field of satellites as well as other areas.

The Prime Minister emphasized that space exploration is an important direction in Vietnam's development strategy; he requested Thales to cooperate with the Ministry of Science and Technology and VNPT to participate in the deployment of satellite projects, ensuring fair competition and taking into account the good relationship between Vietnam and France; clarifying issues regarding capital, technology, and operational management for Vietnam's consideration; as well as researching and expanding cooperation in other areas where the group has strengths.
