Thua Thien Hue supports businesses in updating information after being reclassified by the central government.
On December 5th, the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue province announced the issuance of Notice No. regarding the updating of business registration certificate information due to changes in administrative boundaries.
According to the Department, on November 30, 2024, the 15th National Assembly , at its 8th session, passed Resolution 175 on the establishment of Hue City as a centrally-administered city, and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution 1314 on the rearrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Hue City for the period 2023-2025.
These Resolutions will take effect from January 1, 2025. Therefore, from the effective date of the Resolutions, the names of provincial-level administrative units; and the boundaries and names of district and commune-level administrative units will be changed. Consequently, the Department of Planning and Investment is guiding individuals and businesses in carrying out administrative procedures to update their business registration certificates due to the changes in administrative boundaries.

Regarding the procedure for updating information on business registration certificates, businesses, branches, representative offices, and business locations whose administrative boundaries or names change at the provincial, district, or commune level must comply with the regulations stipulated in Government Decree No. 01/2021/ND-CP dated January 4, 2021, on business registration.
Accordingly, businesses submit a notification requesting updates and additions to their business registration information to the Business Registration Office where the business is headquartered; the Business Registration Office receives the notification, reviews its validity, and issues a Business Registration Certificate to the business within 2 working days (a reduction of 1 day compared to the regulations).
Regarding the implementation timeline, businesses are responsible for registering changes to their business registration certificate within 10 days of the change occurring. Therefore, the implementation period for these changes will begin on January 1, 2025.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue province, businesses are not required to pay registration fees when updating or supplementing information such as phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, websites, and business addresses due to changes in administrative boundaries.
To assist individuals and businesses in updating information on changes to administrative boundaries, the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue province will allocate personnel to provide support on weekdays (including Saturdays and Sundays) at the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Support Task Force of the Department of Planning and Investment.
It is known that the National Assembly's Resolution establishing Hue City as a centrally-governed city will take effect from January 1, 2025. Hue City, under central government control, will have a natural area of nearly 5,000 km2 and a population of over 1.2 million people from the entire Thua Thien-Hue province. The city will have 9 district-level administrative units including 2 districts, 3 towns, and 4 counties; and 133 commune-level administrative units including 78 communes, 48 wards, and 7 townships.
