In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan expressed his appreciation for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus, established in 1992. He also emphasized that bilateral relations between the two countries have seen many positive developments, with increased trust and frequent exchanges of delegations at all levels. According to statistics, in 2023, total trade turnover between Vietnam and Belarus reached US$65.3 million. As of the first quarter of 2024, Belarus had invested US$32.25 million in three projects in Vietnam. With Vietnam having implemented a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Belarus is a member, Ho Chi Minh City believes this will be a driving force for future cooperation. |

In the first eight months of 2024, import and export turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and Belarus reached over 2 million USD. However, this figure does not fully reflect the potential for cooperation between the two sides. Ho Chi Minh City hopes that through this event, trade and investment cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Minsk will continue to develop strongly in many fields. At the event, representatives of businesses from both countries also expressed confidence in new cooperation opportunities, promising to open a new phase of development for bilateral relations.
