NDO - Fulfilling the last wish of his father, Mr. PVĐ, who passed away at 6:30 am, Mr. PVK informed the Tissue Bank, Hanoi Eye Hospital 2 of his wish to donate his father's cornea to bring light to others.
Upon receiving the information, Hanoi Eye Hospital 2 quickly mobilized human resources and equipment, moving as quickly as possible to the site. The most important goal remains the same as always: to collect corneas as soon as possible, to ensure the best possible quality.
In the most emotional moments when the doctors were preparing to remove Mr. D's cornea, PVK, his second son, who due to a previous accident now only has one arm, confided that because he had lost a part of his body, he understood the feelings of those who could not see. "My father is gone, so I still want to give something. They need help more than me. The eyes are the windows to the soul, they see, they feel...", K. expressed.
It is known that Mr. K. is a painter. He makes a living by painting landscapes and portraits. And all of those jobs that require dexterity, talent, and sophistication are performed by him with only his left arm. His right arm was lost in an accident 12 years ago. Of the four brothers in the family, except the youngest who is still in school, the rest are all doing jobs that serve art.
After the family's spirit was more stable, and a few small rituals according to local customs had been performed, the medical staff officially started the collection process. Holding back their grief, the family personally handed over the box containing his cornea to the representative of the Tissue Bank, Hanoi Eye Hospital 2.
Mrs. TTN, Mr. PVĐ's wife, said with tears in her eyes: "Our family has known about stories of donations like this. When my husband passed away, people also said that there were many families who donated and helped people who could not see. We also want to help people see."
