Accordingly, the new Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training was established on the basis of merging the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training with the former Departments of Education and Training of Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu was born in 1966, hometown Phuoc Hiep commune, Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City; before the merger, he held the position of Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, majoring in mathematics, has a bachelor's degree in politics , a senior degree in political theory, and is a delegate of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026...
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu has worked in the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City since September 1989. He has worked for a long time at the grassroots level in various positions such as teacher, youth assistant, Vice Principal of Quang Trung High School, Principal of Trung Lap High School, Deputy Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Head of Department, Head of Secondary School Department, Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City; Head of Personnel Department, Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City. From April 2014, Mr. Hieu was appointed as Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City. From August 2021, he was appointed as Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City until now.
During his time leading the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu has always completed his tasks excellently, had many initiatives in his work, and the units were united and strong. The staff, managers, teachers, employees and students have a proactive spirit of innovation, boldly applied information technology in teaching and learning, were active in studying and building a healthy and friendlyeducational environment. Many units of the Department have received the Emulation Flag of the Ministry of Education and Training, the City People's Committee, and certificates of merit from the Prime Minister for many consecutive years.
Thus, the Board of Directors of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City currently includes Director Nguyen Van Hieu and Deputy Directors including Mr./Ms. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Duong Tri Dung, Le Thuy My Chau, Huynh Le Nhu Trang, Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Nguyen Van Phong, Truong Hai Thanh, Tran Thi Ngoc Chau, Phan Ke Toai.
The new Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will have 198 public service units, including 165 high schools and junior high schools, 2 specialized high schools, 2 gifted sports schools and other units.
In the immediate future, according to the proposal of Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu, the payroll and number of employees of the departments and public service units under the 3 regional departments will be kept the same; a roadmap will be developed to streamline the payroll, at least 20% of the number of civil servants and public employees receiving salaries from the state budget.
The facilities are expected to remain intact. The department's staff and workers will be assigned to work in three areas to ensure work is completed promptly and continuously.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, after merging 3 provinces, the new Ho Chi Minh City will have nearly 2.6 million students, the locality with the largest number of students in the country.
