Orphaned at the age of 2, Phan Thanh Long (15 years old, from Hoa Tien commune) has been living with his elderly and frail grandmother. In a small, simple house, the two depend on each other, living on vegetables and porridge.
Knowing Long's situation, from December 2021 until now, Huong Sen Charity Club has "sponsored" and supported "Huong Sen Scholarship" with 500,000 VND/month to help him study with peace of mind. Thanks to that support, for many years, Long has always achieved good academic results. Recently, Long passed the 10th grade public high school entrance exam.
Similarly, Huong Sen Charity Club also supported Nguyen Quoc Huy (grade 11, Thuong Duc commune). Huy lost his father at a young age, his mother worked alone to support his two brothers' education. Overcoming his circumstances, Huy always strived and achieved high academic results.
“Thanks to the monthly scholarship from the club, I have enough money to pay for my studies and reduce the burden on my family,” Huy shared. Xa Van Quoc (6th grade student, Thang Truong commune) is also in a difficult situation.
Quoc lost his parents at a young age and lives with his elderly grandmother who has lost the ability to work. Understanding Quoc's difficulties, from April 2022 to now, Huong Sen Charity Club has supported him with scholarships to help him buy books and go to school.
The City Red Cross Society said that the above cases are 3 of 30 students in the city who have just been awarded scholarships by the Huong Sen Charity Club to help them go to school. They are all from poor, near-poor, orphaned households, and have especially difficult circumstances but always overcome difficulties to study well. Each scholarship worth 3 million VND is a practical gift that greatly encourages the spirit, helping them to be more confident in their journey of studying and improving in life.
Mr. Dao Kim Long, Head of Huong Sen Charity Club, said that the "Huong Sen Scholarship" program was initiated in December 2021, providing periodic support of VND 500,000/child/month to 30 students who have overcome difficulties. The program aims to share some of the difficulties, accompany and support orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances on the path to literacy.
Mr. Dao Kim Long said that, in addition to maintaining the programs "Huong Sen Scholarship" and "Bicycles with children to school", the Club also implements many programs to accompany children and students in difficult circumstances such as: Study corner for children, giving health insurance cards, helping them go to school after the flood season, meals in the highlands, warm winter in the highlands, free summer classes... The total cost of implementing the programs to help students go to school is more than 500 million VND/year.
“The club is always open and transparent in receiving and using support resources, complying with legal regulations. From there, we receive the trust and contributions of volunteers near and far. This is a valuable resource for the club to effectively carry out activities to care for children and students, adding motivation for those in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances to rise up in life,” said Mr. Dao Kim Long.
