Continue to propagate the work of managing the Vietnam-Laos land border

On the morning of October 16, in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam , the Central Propaganda Department coordinated with the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and relevant agencies to organize a "Propaganda Conference on Vietnam - Laos land border management" for 10 Vietnam - Laos border provinces. Comrade Vu Thanh Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

At the conference, delegates listened to and discussed: Territorial border work has made practical contributions to building and protecting the country on the Vietnam-Laos land border; Practices and experiences in handling issues arising in national border management on the Vietnam-Laos land border by the Border Guard force in recent times and Directions for developing border trade on the Vietnam-Laos land border.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Vu Thanh Mai affirmed that Vietnam and Laos are two close neighboring countries, with a special friendship that has been closely linked throughout the history of building and defending the country of the two peoples, and are steadfast in the goals of national independence and socialism.

Over the years, the border situation between the two countries has been maintained and ensured to be stable. The functional forces of the two countries regularly exchange, grasp information, and coordinate to resolve border issues in a timely and effective manner such as: preventing and promptly handling violations of border regulations, preventing and combating cross-border crimes, especially drug crimes, inciting, luring and illegally crossing the border; protecting environmental resources in border areas; promoting cooperation in developing border gates to better serve the management, control of border crossings and socio-economic development in the Vietnam-Laos border area.

Comrade Vu Thanh Mai emphasized that the world and regional situation continues to evolve rapidly and complicatedly; the trend of peace , cooperation and development faces many challenges. Domestically, the political, economic and social situation is stable; the Party and State's foreign affairs and people-to-people diplomacy continue to be maintained and promoted; the country's prestige and position are constantly improving.

In addition, hostile forces continue to thoroughly exploit issues of national border sovereignty, ethnicity, and religion to propagate distortions and fabrications to sabotage Vietnam and divide the traditional friendship between Vietnam and neighboring countries.

Deputy Head Vu Thanh Mai noted that in that context, all levels, sectors and localities in border areas need to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party and State's viewpoints on national border and territorial work in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and related documents.

Resolutely and persistently fight to firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity of the Fatherland, and national interests; ensure security, social order and safety; maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development. Consolidate and build a solid "people's hearts and minds position", successfully achieve the goal of protecting the territorial sovereignty of the Fatherland's border areas.

Comrade Vu Thanh Mai suggested that local Party committees and authorities, especially those in border provinces, should proactively develop propaganda plans in conjunction with the implementation of political tasks of localities and units; ensuring compliance with principles and policies, while being flexible and effectively responding to newly arising sensitive situations. Actively and proactively participate in building and consolidating the grassroots political system, developing the socio-economy, strengthening national defense and security, building a comprehensively strong border area, truly becoming a solid "fence" to protect the border./.
