TPO - The meteorological agency forecasts that from October 29-31 and around November 4-5, Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces and cities in the Southern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.
On the morning of October 28th, Ho Chi Minh City experienced overcast skies and heavy rain in many areas. According to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station, the weather system causing thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City was mainly due to a weak strengthening of the continental cold high-pressure system. In addition, the tropical convergence zone, with its axis passing through the Central region and connected to a low-pressure area (weakened from typhoon number 6), was gradually decreasing in intensity.
At 9:00 AM on October 28th, a developing thunderstorm cloud system was bringing rain, thunderstorms, and lightning to the districts of Can Gio, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, and the districts of Go Vap and District 12, etc.

Forecasts indicate that over the next 3 hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop, bringing showers, thunderstorms, and lightning to the aforementioned districts and counties, then spreading to other neighboring areas. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 10-50mm, with some areas receiving over 65mm.
"During thunderstorms, be wary of tornadoes, hailstorms, and strong gusts of wind at levels 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain may cause localized flooding," the Southern Vietnam Regional Meteorological and Hydrological Station reported.
In the coming days, from November 1st to 2nd, the continental high-pressure system will intensify again north of Vietnam, strengthening significantly by November 4th to 5th. Over the southern seas, westerly to southwesterly winds will gradually decrease in intensity. From November 2nd, the wind will shift to the northeast and gradually strengthen to force 5-6.
Forecasts indicate that from October 29-31 and around November 4-5, Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in the Southern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.
