Honoring outstanding individuals in the patriotic emulation movement

In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized: The program "Glory of Vietnam" is a major event of profound political and social significance to honor heroic collectives and individuals, emulation fighters nationwide, and advanced models with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement, building and defending the Fatherland.

Held for the first time on the occasion of International Labor Day (May 1, 2004), under the direct direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the "Glory of Vietnam" program has increasingly become a prestigious event in society, attracting the attention of people nationwide, having a positive impact and leaving good impressions in society.

After 17 times of organization, 258 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields of life have been selected and honored. The typical examples honored in the Program have continuously promoted their qualities and experiences, continued to contribute to serving the people and society. Thereby, creating a strong driving force, having a wide influence, contributing to promoting patriotic emulation movements, making practical contributions to the development and prosperity of the country.

Following the theme “Vietnamese Aspiration” in 2021, “Vietnamese Courage” in 2022, Vietnam Glory in 2023 chose the theme “Vietnamese Will” to honor and encourage the strength and spirit of overcoming all difficulties, and the desire to contribute of the Vietnamese people. The program has received many nominations from Committees, Ministries, branches, localities, press and media agencies.

Based on the conditions, standards, results and actual achievements of collectives and individuals, in the spirit of impartiality, objectivity, rigor and science, this year's "Glory of Vietnam" Program has selected and honored 5 collectives and 11 outstanding individuals, typical of the will and aspiration to rise up, overcome all difficulties, determined to fully promote internal strength, promote self-reliance and self-reliance to stand firm in the common challenges and find ways to rise up, inspiring the social community.

The typical examples that the Vietnam Glory Program honors today, although in different professions, fields, and positions, all have one thing in common, which is the will to rise up, overcome all difficulties and challenges, serve the country, serve the people. That will is one of the sources of strength of the Vietnamese people, the Vietnamese nation, which has been forged throughout more than four thousand years of history. It can be said that the collectives and individuals honored in the Program are the most vivid, authentic, and closest images of the spirit of "patriotic emulation", so that we all continue to compete, compete more for a rich people, a strong country, a democratic, fair, and civilized society.

“I hope that the examples honored today as well as those honored before will continue to promote their role as leading factors, continue to shine in society, and become typical nuclei of the patriotic emulation movement,” Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized.

Sharing her feelings at the Program, Captain of the Vietnam National Women's Football Team Huynh Nhu said: To get to where we are today, it has been a long journey for the Vietnam National Women's Football Team. Luckily, the Vietnam National Women's Football Team has received the love and proper investment from the Government, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Football Federation and especially the love of the fans.

Huynh Nhu said: "Getting into the Women's World Cup is the dream of the whole team and Vietnamese football fans. As everyone knows, the opponents of the Vietnam Women's Football Team in this tournament are very strong, but the whole team always keeps the belief that they will never falter. This is also an opportunity to promote the beautiful image of Vietnam to the international community. Hopefully, the journey of the Vietnam National Women's Football Team will always receive the love and support of everyone. The whole team promises to always try their best to be worthy of the spirit of Vietnamese women, to be worthy of the love of everyone".

Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Relations, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment, said: The work of the scientist from Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment was carried out in the context that Vietnam and other countries in the world are facing the depletion of fossil resources such as coal, oil, gas as well as the phenomenon of global warming due to the amount of greenhouse gases generated during the use of these fossil fuels.

“These energy solutions that I developed for green hydrogen fuel and energy aim for high durability and low cost so that we can contribute to the green energy transition of Vietnam in particular and countries around the world in general to access this energy source in the future,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thi Thanh Van.

Speaking at the Program, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien highly appreciated and welcomed the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for its initiative to organize the Program "Glory of Vietnam" to honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements. This will create a widespread influence in society, attracting the working class and working people to enthusiastically compete, achieve outstanding achievements, and contribute to building and defending the Fatherland.

The program “Glory of Vietnam” is increasingly becoming a prestigious event, attracting the attention of the majority of people, having a wide influence, positive impact and leaving many good impressions. The 16 groups and individuals honored are ordinary, close people but have devoted themselves, devoted their efforts, and aspired to contribute their strength to the community and society. They are honored, voted closely, convincingly, and are very valuable; they are a source of pride and great inspiration for us to learn and follow.

According to Mr. Do Van Chien, in the first 6 months of 2023, in the context of many unpredictable changes in the world and the region, our entire Party, people and army have united to seize favorable opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, and strive to achieve many important and comprehensive results in all fields. The macro-economy has been maintained, economic development has been restored, social security has been ensured, national defense and security have been maintained; Party building work, anti-corruption and negativity have achieved important results; people's trust in the Party and the State has been constantly enhanced.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front stated that it is forecasted that in the coming time, our country will continue to face many difficulties and challenges; advantages will be intertwined with difficulties, in which there will be more difficulties than advantages, requiring us to be highly determined, take drastic actions, and organize more extensive emulation movements to be able to complete the goals and tasks set out in 2023.

Mr. Do Van Chien suggested that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor continue to study and thoroughly grasp the content of Directive 34-CT/TW of the Politburo on continuing to innovate emulation and reward work; deeply imbue Ho Chi Minh's thought on patriotic emulation "To love the country, one must compete, those who compete are the most patriotic". From there, encourage cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers to actively respond to patriotic emulation movements launched by the Prime Minister and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, together with the whole country to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and strive to exceed the 2023 plan targets.

At the Program, 16 outstanding collectives and individuals were awarded Medals for their many contributions to the cause of national construction and development.
