General Secretary To Lam received a group of international scientists and experts attending the 4th VinFuture Prize Award Ceremony

On the afternoon of December 6th, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received a group of international scientists and experts who are visiting Vietnam and attending the VinFuture Award Ceremony 2024.

General Secretary To Lam welcomed and warmly congratulated international scientists, especially outstanding international scientists in the fields of artificial intelligence, materials science, environmental research, and medical applications, on being honored and receiving the VinFuture Award 2024.

The General Secretary emphasized that the VinFuture Award is not only the highest-value annual science award but also a testament to the Vietnamese people's thirst for knowledge, their aspiration to reach out globally, and their ability to absorb the best of humanity, making Vietnam a pioneering nation in science, technology, and innovation.

General Secretary To Lam shared the vision and determination of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to achieve development goals, becoming a developing country with modern industry and high middle income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045; he also provided information on the major policies and orientations of the Vietnamese Party and Government, which identify science and technology and innovation as top national priorities, strategic breakthroughs, and the main driving force for breakthroughs in productivity, quality, and efficiency, decisive factors in enhancing national competitiveness and sustainable development, and efforts to proactively participate in and maximize the advantages of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

On behalf of the VinFuture Award Council, Professor Richard Henry Friend, Chairman of the VinFuture Award Council, expressed his deep gratitude for the special attention of General Secretary To Lam personally to leading international scientists and experts, especially the renowned scientists honored in 2024; affirming the international stature of The VinFuture Award highlights the significant and practical meaning of the research and contributions of this year's award-winning scientists, particularly in promoting global cooperation, connecting great ideas, inspiring passion and creativity in the younger generation in their mission to serve humanity, contributing to solving global challenges, and working towards a better society and life.

Speaking at the meeting, international scientists and experts highly appreciated the vision, major orientations, and determination of the Vietnamese Party and Government in developing and leveraging science, technology, and innovation to create strategic drivers for strong breakthroughs; acknowledged Vietnam's positive and practical progress in digital transformation, application, and development of modern technologies in many important industries and fields; and highly valued the potential for cooperation between large technology corporations and the Vietnamese business community in the fields of research and application of new technologies.

Scientists also presented ideas and suggestions regarding issues such as building an AI ecosystem and energy transition. Green economy, digital economy, research and development, human resource training, application of technology in agriculture, transportation, etc., are gradually making Vietnam a bright spot in new technology fields in the region and the world.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam welcomed the meaningful initiative and efforts to organize the annual VinFuture Award; expressing his appreciation and gratitude to the leading international scientists and experts in new fields of science and technology who have accompanied Vietnam, actively sharing opinions, providing advice, connecting and promoting cooperation and investment between Vietnam and leading universities, research organizations and technology corporations of the world.

General Secretary To Lam requested that international scientists and experts continue to cooperate closely and actively support Vietnam in the following areas: advising on policies for developing new science and technology and selecting appropriate investment directions; supporting the training of high-quality human resources to serve the development strategy of the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence; promoting the formation and development of high-productivity innovation and computing centers; and connecting Vietnam with leading technology corporations and international markets.
