Ho Chi Minh City announces 50 outstanding events and activities

On the morning of April 26, at the Youth Cultural House, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to announce 50 typical events and activities of the city, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Taking place in the period 1975 - 2025, this is a series of events and activities that are assessed to have a positive influence, impact and typical value in terms of historical, political , economic and social development significance, reflecting the typical characteristics of Ho Chi Minh City people in particular, the Southeast region and the whole country in general. At the same time, it received the consensus and support of all classes of people and organizations, reflected in the results of collecting opinions and official evaluation results of agencies and organizations.

Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, departments, branches and delegates performed the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

50 typical events and activities include the following fields: Politics (14 events); National Defense - Security (2 events); Health (2 events); Economy (5 events); History - Culture (2 events); Transportation (3 events); Culture - Society (12 events); Environment (2 events); Science - Technology (4 events); Education (2 events); Foreign Affairs (1 event); Sports (1 event).

Notable in the published list are "The Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious, Saigon and the whole country entered an era of peace, independence, unity, and progress towards Socialism" (1975); "The first session of the 6th National Assembly of the unified Vietnam passed a Resolution officially naming Saigon - Gia Dinh city as Ho Chi Minh City" (1976); "Establishment of Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone - the first Export Processing Zone in the country" (1991); "Establishment of Ho Chi Minh City National University" (1995); "Ho Chi Minh City inaugurated the Stock Exchange Center" (2000); "Official operation of Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien line)" (2024), ...

Previously, from the events nominated by the city's departments, agencies, Thu Duc City People's Committee, districts and press agencies, the Voting Council compiled and released a list of 57 outstanding events and activities. The above list was organized to collect public opinions through the "Voting Program for 50 Outstanding Events and Activities from 1975 to 2025" organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, taking place from March 21 to March 31, 2025. The activity attracted more than 9,000 people to participate, including Vietnamese citizens and foreigners living, studying and working in Ho Chi Minh City.

The organizers said that the selection and announcement of 50 outstanding events and activities of Ho Chi Minh City aims to promote and widely introduce the outstanding results and achievements in each field of socio-economic development; contributing to arousing the aspirations of the city's people and the great national unity bloc in the cause of building and developing Ho Chi Minh City.

After the announcement, the Organizing Committee opened an exhibition of 50 typical literary and artistic works; at the same time, exchanged and introduced 50 typical events and activities of Ho Chi Minh City.
